It’s so crazy that another month has just flown by. August was pretty mellow for us which was a nice break after a few busy months. I kept it pretty casual and low maintenance this month and I wanted to share in case you’ve missed any on instagram. I feel like I’ve been non-stop off the shoulder this year, but this top was too good to pass up. I’ve worn it with shorts and pants and am always so comfortable. It’s the kind of top you can wear to dinner and eat a bunch of chips and guac and a few tacos and no one will know the difference. Everyone needs a top like that in their closet.

As I was putting together this wish list I realized there was a common theme… I was picking mostly basic staples. I think that’s a sign that my wardrobe needs an update in that department! Good basics are great when you’re getting ready in a rush… AKA me every morning before work. And I love pieces that are easy to mix and match.

 

Ughhh… Monday. No matter how much you do or don’t sleep on Sunday nights, it’s a brutal wake up call come Monday’s alarm. The only thing that makes it easier (for me, at least) is when I have a cute outfit ready layed out ready to put on. This dress definitely falls into that category and it’s so versatile. I wanted to wear it with over-the-knee boots, but I thought that was jumping the gun a bit. Typically I save more “fall” items for October because it’s still so hot out.

 

I think this dress is the solution to my late summer wardrobe blues. I’ve been so sick of everything in my closet, but not wanting to get new summer things or jump right into fall. Luckily this dress entered my life as the perfect transition piece. I styled it a little more fall here with my favorite booties and felt hat but I know I’ll be wearing it in a summer-y way too.

It’s crazy to think I’m already thinking about fall fashion, but I am! This time of year always seems like a fresh start. Probably because of all my years of back-to-school shopping – picking out new favorites to wear in the new school year. Now that I’ve been out of school for a long while, I still find myself wanting to get a head start on new things for fall and have been thinking ahead to fall staples. Everything is pretty versatile and can be worn all year round… in California, at least. But really they’re all practical pieces to take you into the new season whether you’re a student, a mom or a 9-5er.
