Favorite Hair Products

February 22, 2016 by Ashley 1 Comment

Let’s talk hair care.

favorite hair products

When it comes to my hair, I’m pretty routine. I’ve had the same style for years and like to keep it pretty low maintenance. But in order to keep my strands healthy I rely on a few old faithful go-to’s.

Without question my favorite line is It’s a 10, but their Miracle Leave-In is my favorite. I have a lot of fine hair that gets super tangled when it’s wet and it’s really the only thing that helps me comb through it. It’s a huge life and time saver for me. HUGE.I’ve been using the keratin one but it also comes in lite for thinner hair, blonde that I sometimes use and regular. I love them all.

Several months ago I also started using their Potion 10 shampoo and conditioner which also kept my hair from getting as tangled while I wash it. I cannot say enough good things about their product line.

Here are my other favorites for managing my hair…

Coconut Oil – I mean who doesn’t love this stuff. I use it for pretty much everything, but probably my favorite use is a deep conditioner for my hair. I either sleep with it in or put it in my hair and twist it into a bun for a few hours before I wash it.

Fat Hair Amplifying Blow Dry Spray – Pretty self explanatory, I use this to prep my hair before I heat style it.

Keratase Aqua Seal – After I curl my hair I twist a dime sized amount into my strands to lock in moisture and keep them healthy.

Bonacure Cell Perfector – Similar to the Keratase, I apply a dime sized amount after I air dry my hair to lock in moisture when I’m not heat styling.

Tangle Teezer Brush – My favorite brush for my tangled mane. This thing really works without breaking off my hair.

A few notes… I try to let my hair air dry as much as possible, especially if I’m going to curl it. When I curl I use this curling iron (without the clamp).

Thanks for reading my hair novel! Let me know if you have any questions!

Top 10 January Favorites

February 1, 2016 by Ashley 1 Comment

Happy Monday! Hope you had a good weekend – I spent the first half of mine at the SAG Awards and the second half relaxing. I’m excited to share a new series I’ll be doing monthly with all of my favorite things from the past month. This month I have a little of everything: beauty, home decor and fashion in my top ten. ashnfashn january favorites

1. Moraccan Wedding Blanket

I’ve had my eyes on this blanket for over a year. I love the colors and texture and can’t wait until my house is done so I can have it on the couch. It’s helped keep me sane by adding some pretty into the disaster zone that is my house mid-remodel.

2. Bucket Bag

This has been my go-to bag all month. It’s the perfect size for work, but not too big if I go out after or heavy while I shop. It is such a steal at $65, but the best part is the quality is so good!

3. Pixi Glow Mud Mask

I love the idea mud masks. But until this one I hadn’t found one that actually made a difference. I love to put this one on before I take a bath and really let it sink into my skin.

4. Loreal Voluminous Superstar Mascara

I’ve been a longtime fan of Loreal’s mascaras. I used them through high school, college and beyond. I’d been switching it up lately but decided to come back around and try this one and was not disappointed. I love double brushes and the primer… it seriously helps so much!

5. Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer

This one isn’t a new find this month, but I still had to share. I’d been using a bb cream for the past while and decided to go back to this. I’m not a fan of a heavy foundation and this one provides just enough coverage while still staying light.

6. Bare Minerals Bare Haven Moisturizer

I have combination skin and it takes such a beating in the winter. A good moisturizer is key! I love how buttery this one is but it doesn’t make my skin oily. It actually reminds me of La Mer but for a fraction of the price.

7. Bare Minerals Skinlongevity Serum

I guess I should have said I was obsessed with this whole line. I’ve been really focusing on skin care this month and finding a serum I loved was important to me. I use this on my face and neck at night before applying the moisturizer. I’ve already noticed a difference.

8. Bare Minerals Cleansing Oil

I’d never tried a cleansing oil but it seems to be working! I typically use this one to remove my makeup and then follow with my normal cleanser. However, when I’m not wearing makeup I just use this to cleanse my face.

9. Slippers

Something else that’s not new to me this month but I couldn’t have lived without. I swap my shoes for these babies as soon as I get home. Since they have a rubber sole I can take Mackie out to the backyard without putting regular shoes back on. I go through about a pair of these a year and sometimes even end up wearing them out to run errands.

10. Sweater

I just got this sweater last week and have already worn it three times! It’s so comfy and I love how unique it is. I try to switch it up with different pieces when I’m bored with my wardrobe.

Thanks for stopping by – have a good Monday!

Dry Shampoos to Try

October 23, 2015 by Ashley No Comments

dry shampoo

I wanted to call this post “How To Wash Your Hair As Little As Possible.”

I try to only wash my hair a few times a week. I have a lot of stick straight hair that’s thick in the back and fine in the front and over the years I’ve learned less is more when it comes to shampoo. However, I’m no stranger to dry shampoo. I’ve used so many through the years and have mastered a few tips and tricks along the way. For instance, if you spray some on your scalp where you’re prone to oil when it’s freshly washed, it will actually help keep the grease away.

Recently I had the opportunity to try two new (to me) dry shampoos I wanted to share with you in case you’re int he market for a new one.

Rusk Deepshine Color Care Invisible Dry Shampoo

I’d never tried a clear dry shampoo and was surprised by how much I liked it. I have light hair and can get away with blending in a more powdery dry shampoo, but I didn’t need to with this one. This one was a little sticky at first but dried and kept my hair oil free.

Marc Anthony True Professional 2nd Day Clear Dry Shampoo

Loved! This one might be my new favorite. It brought my hair back to life during a really busy week when I was trying to maximize some curling iron waves. This one was a little more powdery but was easy to blend.

The perfect companion to dry shampoo is a good hair brush. My hair gets super tangly when it’s wet and at the nape of my neck towards the end of the day. I love the Wet Brush because I’m able to work through the tangles without any breakage.

Hope you have a great weekend – thanks for stopping by!

Mally Face Defender

August 14, 2015 by Ashley No Comments

Just a quick little Friday post to tell you about my new favorite beauty product – Mally! Recently I was introduced to Mally by a makeup artist at work after I complained to her I was getting really shiny on my face by the middle of the day. This stuff is a game changer. It’s colorless and completely takes any shine away, leaving you looking almost airbrushed. I put it on over my makeup in the morning and throw it in my purse in case I need a touch up mid day.  It’s changed my life so far and I’m so excited to have discovered it!

Nordstrom Sale Beauty Favs

July 22, 2015 by Ashley No Comments

It seems like every where you look online someone is raving about the Nordstrom anniversary sale, so I’m sure by now you’ve at least window shopped it. To me the best deals of the sale are in the beauty department… and that’s great because it’s not something you have to wait a few months to wear. Unlike those over-the-knee boots or faux fur vest you’re eying.

The great thing about the beauty deals is lots of things are bundled together giving you waaaay more bang for your buck. This lash serum is discounted by almost $100! My favorite item is still this trio of candles. I like to buy the 3-pack and tuck some away as emergency gifts. Make sure to peep these products in case there’s something you’re low on slash can’t live without.
