Beachy Toddler Room Makeover

January 29, 2020 by ashadmin No Comments

When we moved Crosby into a different bedroom last year before Wilder was born it never really got decorated and styled how I wanted. For the last several months we’ve been planning a room makeover to update her room and finally decorate it. I’m so excited to share the design inspiration, so you can get a feel for what the room will look like.

First a big girl bed! We actually purchased a rattan daybed at World Market a few months ago. It has since sold out, but this one is pretty similar. Crosby started climbing out of her crib late last summer so we converted it into a toddler bed. She sleeps really well in there at night, but her naps are a different story. You’ve probably seen me share the misadventures of her daily naps on my IG story. They’re a challenge! It’s very rare she falls asleep in her bed… if she does sleep it’s usually on the floor somewhere after she’s exhausted herself playing. I’ve found her in some crazy places… both her closet and hamper. Needless to say she no longer has a hamper in her room.

Something I’m really excited about is this wallpaper! I am all about wallpaper for a statement or accent wall. We’re going to use this on two walls in her room. There’s wainscoting on the walls so this will be above that behind her bed and dresser. It’s going to be such a fun statement.

We had a much bolder rug in her nursery that we moved into this room originally. I loved it at the time but really wanted to change it up. We actually got this rug a few months ago and love it. I think it’s going to look so pretty with the rest of the room.

I’ve been eying this quilt from Target’s Opal House line for awhile now and actually just ordered it. I love the warm coral colors and think it’s going to look so good with the rest of the room.

That’s what we have so far! It’s a beachy/boho vibe that feels a lot more grown up than her current room.

My Holiday Decor

November 5, 2019 by ashadmin No Comments

I KNOW!! It’s WAY too early for this! Don’t worry, I have not decorated quite yet… I just wanted to share a couple pictures of my decorations from last year. I don’t plan on decorating for a few more weeks, but tis the season to start buying decorations and everything.

– THE BREAKDOWN –

similar tree, similar tree topper, tree skirt, elf on the shelf, rug, poufs, coffee table, hanging chair, fairy lights, faux fur throw, gold beaded garland, round ornaments, coasters, coffee mug

Last year we kept it fairly simple with our tree. Crosby was one and a half and into everything so I had most of the ornaments up out of her reach. We’ll see how both kids do with them this year.

Do you decorate before our after Thanksgiving? In the past we used to wait until after but now everything feels so busy and rushed I like to decorate a little before. Last year we put them up in mid-November and I think it was the perfect amount of time. I also took them down before New Years Eve and everything felt so clean and fresh. I plan on doing the same this year!

I think it also depends on if you do a real or fake tree. We used to buy real trees, but they are so much work! We store ours in our attic and can put it up in under 20 minutes. It’s a dream.

Home Style: Area Rugs

September 25, 2019 by ashadmin No Comments

I thought it would be fun today to do a post about the four main area rugs in our home. We have wood floors all through the house, so area rugs are very necessary. We have them in the living room and all of our bedrooms and they’re some of my favorite decor details. They definitely help set the tone of the room and add warmth and personality to the space.

I’ll break down our rugs room by room…

Living room rug:

Master bedroom rug:

Wilder’s nursery rug:

Crosby’s nursery rug:

The photos of Crosby’s room we actually her old nursery that’s now Wilder’s room. We moved her into another room before he was born and here room has felt a little plain ever since. We are actually about the start a little makeover on her room! I ordered a fun wallpaper and the next step is picking a rug. The wallpaper will be the statement maker, so I want a rug that’s a bit softer. I’m trying to decide between this one, this one, this one or this one.

Hope you have a great day – thank you for reading and following!

Outdoor Updates

June 21, 2019 by ashadmin No Comments

A couple of months ago Jeff and I were lounging playing with the kids in the backyard and both decided we wanted to make a few changes. Our outdoor dining table had been with us since we lived in our rental house and gotten a lot of use/weather over time. We decided a new table was the perfect place to start.

Luckily our plans happened to align with a big sale at World Market and we snagged everything for a major deal. I highly recommend scouting out sales before you make big furniture purchases. Lots of times they coincide with holidays, so keep that in mind.

I was immediately drawn to the white-washed wood tables and quickly decided on this one. We knew we wanted a large enough table to seat our families when they come over. We purchased these chairs and this bench. At first we didn’t know if the bench was the right decision but have been so happy with it. But my favorite part of the table is the umbrella… I had been eying this umbrella for awhile and knew it would look perfect in our backyard. It brings in a fun boho element.

We have a pretty big backyard and outdoor patio with different areas for seating and lounging. Last year we purchased these lounge chairs during a sale on Wayfair and have been so happy with them.

Our next area to tackle is our outdoor living room. A few years back Jeff purchased a lot of cushions and decided to build the couch, love seat and chair. He did an amazing job and we’ve loved having that outdoor area but felt like we needed more to fill up the space. We purchased these end tables also during the Memorial Day sale.

Next up we’re looking for an outdoor rug (I have my eye on a few here and here), mounting our TV and finishing up lighting and Jeff is going to built out our fire table (it wasn’t big enough for his liking).

Happy first day of summer!

Boho Baby Boy Nursery

June 7, 2019 by ashadmin 4 Comments

Today I’m sharing photos of Wilder’s nursery. You may remember me talking about the whole process… we moved Crosby out of this room into her new room a couple months before Wilder was born so Wilder could be in the room closest to ours. It was such a fun room to put together, after we were done I told Jeff designing kids rooms was my favorite thing to do. We partnered with Minted for the wallpaper and wall art. I wasn’t sure how I’d like the wallpaper but I am obsessed. It is such a fun statement and adds so much to the room. Everything else kind of just fell into place and I’m so happy with the way it came out. I’m also happy we were able to document the room and don’t know if it will ever be this clean again! I linked as much as I could at the bottom of this post.

Wayfair’s Way Day Deals

April 10, 2019 by ashadmin No Comments

Happy Wednesday! So excited that today is Way Day! I actually had no idea what this was until last year when I happened to be on Wayfair’s site and discovered this amazing sale. They do it once a year and have huge markdowns that are even better than Cyber Monday and Black Friday.

I wanted to share a few things we’ve purchased from Wayfair over the years.

I snagged these lounge chairs during the sale last year. I’d been wanting a set forever and can’t tell you how much I love them. We keep them covered when we’re not using them so they don’t get too weathered. It’s so nice to go out there and lounge. They make our backyard feel resort-like.

This chandelier was another steal and it totally completed our dining room. We waited a long time for a finished dining room and now that we have it we love eating in there.

I got this rug during the sale last year too… it’s already a great price but on sale it was even better. We loved it but ended up swapping it out a couple months ago because the color wasn’t practical with a toddler and dog. Lesson learned.

Another Wayfair find was this palm print wallpaper in our entry way. It’s a major statement, but we love it. With bold wallpaper it’s always best to go with a smaller wall and this one was perfect.

Hope you have a great day – let me know if you’re shopping the sale!
