Thanksgiving Dress Outfit Option

November 8, 2018 by ashadmin No Comments

Messy hair, don’t care… should have been the title of this post. We were running around all morning before I took these and my hair could definitely use a brushing… oops. I’m wearing another bump-hugging dress that I love and think this outfit would be perfect for a dressier Thanksgiving. We usually keep it pretty casual on Turkey Day, but I wanted to throw out this option if you’re searching for a dress option.

I don’t really wear body-con dresses normally, but I love them when I’m pregnant. I think they’re so flattering for all stages of pregnancy. My favorite way to wear them is with a duster, cardigan or kimono layered on top. I’m wearing this chenille duster from Love, Fire that I just can’t get enough of.

Everything I’m wearing (aside from my bag) is new from Nordstrom. I’ve been shopping a little more than normal lately. It’s still hot here and I’ve been looking for cute outfits that are comfortable and practical. As much as I love high-waisted jeans, they’re just not cutting it these days.

I posted these booties on Instagram and Like to Know It and they were a hit! I love wearing booties in the fall, but I’m pretty picky. First up they need to be comfortable. I also like a low heel and a slight dip in the front. These checked all the boxes and they’re under $100. They come in black too if you’re looking for a good black bootie.

With the holidays basically here… we have our first party next weekend. I’ve started looking for more dresses that will work for me. I’m loving this metallic slip dress that you can wear on it’s own or layer a tee under… a 90’s throwback I’m loving. This longer midi dress is also on my list. It comes in both black and cream and the side slit makes it really flattering. This navy sweater dress is a really cute option for the holidays. I’d get it for Thanksgiving, but last year it was 90 degrees here… #seasons.

Dressing The Bump

November 5, 2018 by ashadmin No Comments

I’m 17 weeks pregnant now and feel like I’ve popped! With Crosby I wasn’t visibly showing until around 22 weeks…. it happens a lot faster the second time. I also feel like time is going by sooo fast now. Like I’m going to blink and it’s going to be baby time. Trying to soak up these last months with just Crosby.

It’s getting harder and harder to take pictures with a toddler. When we took these I had some eggless cookies my mom made in my bag. She used applesauce in place of eggs since Crosby’s allergic. They were a great bribe… but as you can see they never really left her mouth. We took these around 5 pm and I think she was on such a sugar-high she only slept for two hours and was up and wired the rest of the night. Same thing happened on Halloween when she had a few pieces of candy. #lessionlearned

I’m loving these vintage inspired tee’s I found at Target for Crosby. I got her this ACDC one, this Grateful Dead one and this cute Nasa one. They’re so comfortable for her sometimes she’ll even nap in them. And they’re a great price point at $10.

The dress I’m wearing is great for a bump… but it’s also really flattering if you don’t have one. I got it last year about this time so I wasn’t able to wear it while I was pregnant with Crosby… excited to wear it this go-around. It comes in lots of colors and even a long sleeve version that’s perfect for the chillier months.

Free People Chunky Cardigan

November 1, 2018 by ashadmin No Comments

And just like that it’s November. Don’t blink or it will be 2019. Over the weekend I posted an IG story wearing this outfit and got lots of questions about my chunky cardigan. It’s the Free People Sunday Morning cardigan and I purchased during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Sadly, it’s mostly sold out in this light grey color but it’s fully stocked in black here and a few other colors here. I actually spotted this cardi last year in a pretty blush shade, but I didn’t get it before it sold out so I made sure to snap it up when it came back for the sale.

An outfit like this is perfect for fall in Southern California. It’s chilly in the mornings and evenings and warm in the afternoon. Layers are 100% necessary. I love this tank for layering. It’s from one of my favorite brands and it’s super comfortable for lounging around the house or running around town.

Do you see my little sidekick with her fingers in her mouth? Poor girl is hardcore teething and sometimes that’s the only thing that soothes her. We tried taking these pictures without her but she just wasn’t having it and had to jump in for a few.

She looked super cute in this jumpsuit I found on Amazon. I’ve found so many cute pieces for here there. A lot of times Prime isn’t available so they take a few weeks to come, but they’re worth it! One tip is to always size up because a lot of things run small.

Family Photo Outfit Inspiration

October 31, 2018 by ashadmin No Comments

The holidays are right around the corner (hello November 1st tomorrow), which means it’s time to start thinking about and planning family photos. The past couple of years I waited until the last minute and we just took our photos for our holiday cards at home… which was fine. But this year I got it together early and am excited to send our cards out.

I wanted to share how I plan out our outfits for photos. Jeff completely trusts me and will usually wear what I pick out for him. Although, truth be told, his outfit is usually the most basic of the bunch. But I’ll get to that.

Step one: choose a color scheme.

Since we were shooting at the beach at magic hour I wanted to keep our outfits on the neutral side. I usually start by choosing mine or Crosby’s outfit and build from there. For this one I chose my Cleobella dress first. Then I picked this simple blush romper for Crosby, pulling from the blush in the flowers on my dress. Last I chose Jeff’s beige sweater and jeans. A super simple outfit I knew he’d wear and flows well with ours.

A tip, it always helps to pull everything out and take a quick pic to make sure all the colors, etc look good together.

A funny story about these shots… we started the shoot in the park above the beach and slowly made our way down. Once we got down to the sand Crosby was so excited all she wanted to do was run around. Our photographer took advantage of the happy toddler moment and was taking pictures of her running at the waters edge. All was good until a big wave came and knocked her down. She got soooo soaked. Luckily I brought a change of clothes but forgot a hair brush and her hair was wet. The rest of the shoot (this outfit) was mostly from far away so you couldn’t see how miserable she was.

Look #2:

For this look I knew I wanted Crosby to wear this Burberry dress. Her grandma got it before she was born and I’ve been waiting for her to fit into it. Next I picked my dress… I liked how the red ombre complimented Crosby’s dress. And again, last was Jeff’s look, neutral and tied the whole thing together.

Mother Daughter Fall Outfits

October 29, 2018 by ashadmin 2 Comments

How is it already the last Monday in October?! We are gearing up for Halloween over here by visiting one last pumpkin patch. This was actually the second time Crosby and I went to this one, but we had to bring Jeff back over the weekend. When we left our house it was cloudy and cold (and we dressed for that), but once we got there it was hot and sunny. Between the weather a wild toddler and running on little sleep we didn’t last long. But we did get to do one last lap around the pumpkin patch.

I got this top last week and love how comfortable and flattering it is. I sized up one size to a small for a more relaxed fit… and also in hopes it will fit my growing bump this winter. It’s really affordable and comes in two other colors. I LOVE the green. I’m thinking about throwing on some animal ears and wearing it on Halloween for my easy trick-or-treating costume.

Speaking of Halloween… I finally tried Crosby’s costume on her for the first time over the weekend. It did not go very well. My girlfriend is having the same problem with her little boy who is the same age as Crosby. Do all toddlers just hate dressing up? Last year I made Crosby and Mackie wear matching flamingo costumes and it was so cute and easy! I’m hoping she warms up to the costume a little more by Wednesday or we might need to make a last minute change. Fingers crossed.

Red Suede Jacket

October 19, 2018 by ashadmin No Comments

Happy Friday! Ending the week with one last look from Big Bear. I’m pretty sure this is the last outfit to post. It’s been so warm this week that it’s strange to see myself in a jacket and duck boots, but I like variety. This long sleeve striped top from BB Dakota is one of my new favorite additions to my closet. I went with a bolder styling here pairing it with this red suede jacket, but it can be worn so many ways. It’s also just as cute on it’s own with a pair of jeans… I wore it that way here.

I got these boots this past winter, but they seem to be sold out pretty much everywhere. I can only find them in a few sizes here. I did find this pair that’s really similar and they look like they’d be so comfortable for rain or snow or just the cold. I wish I had more of an excuse to wear duck boots, but they’re not so necessary in Orange County.

This week seemed to go by pretty fast but I’m still more than ready for the weekend. We have some exciting things planned that I can’t wait to share…. soon!! 🙂
