Let’s talk hair!

Last week I was lucky enough to spend the day at Sassoon Salon in Costa Mesa. When it comes to my hair I’m pretty low maintenance, but I was due for a refresh. I’ve had long hair most of my life (aside from a few unfortunate haircuts) and plan on keeping it that way for now, but I’d been feeling blah about it lately. After a day being pampered at Sassoon I’m feeling much better and my hair is looking so much healthier, shinier and more natural.

So what did they do?

I first met with Sassoon’s Salon and Color Director Adriana Harrison for a quick consolation. I explained my desire to stay about the same shade of blonde but how I wanted to add more dimension and natural highlights and low lights. She got started and pretty soon I was on my way to blonde bliss. I’ve always done partial highlights because I want to maintain a natural look and she alternated highlights and lowlights in a herringbone pattern so my hair will look the same basically any way I part or wear it. This is huge! So many times I’ve gotten highlights and they’ve only focused on one area so when I’ve put it up or switched the part I had visible roots… right after getting my hair done.

Next it was time for a little cut. Like I said I’m keeping my hair long for now but wanted to clean it up a bit. It’s been growing like a weed lately (thanks to prenatals and pregnancy) and was feeling a little stringy so I knew I was overdue for a trim. The salon’s Creative Director, Edward Tedeschi, got to work. I have a lot of naturally stick straight hair and choppy layers don’t always work for me, Edward understood that and did a little trim and then came back and added a few layers in the back and some face framing ones in the front.

Even though I didn’t do anything drastic, I feel like a new person with this hair refresh. Perfect timing to take on the new year. I’m excited for more visits to Sassoon Salon and will hopefully be able to keep this up post-baby. Or is that just wishful thinking?
