Since we bought our house and finished remodeling it over a year and a half ago, our dining room has sat empty. Scratch that, it became a storage space to house our stroller, car seat and whatever else it collected over time.

Many months ago, Jeff started our dining room table. He’s completely self taught and does this in his spare time, so there were a few pauses to the project. He built our headboard a few years ago too – see it here and we wanted a similar design. Well it’s finally finished and in our house and deserves all the celebrating and praise hands! I couldn’t love it more.

Well now we need to finish the room. When we did the remodel we turned the existing living room/5th bedroom into one large great room. We knocked down a load-bearing wall, raised the ceiling height, added a set of french doors and a custom made built-in where the bedroom’s closet had been, changed the floors, etc. It’s completely night and day.

Here are a couple before/during photos and one after.

That said our new dining room is part of the old living room and currently without a light fixture. We already did the wiring so now I’m shopping for a chandelier.

We bought two of these chairs at the beginning of the year to go at the heads of the table and Jeff plans to make a bench for one side, but we still need three chairs for the other side. Here are some I’m eying.
