Spring Sandals Trends

March 17, 2021 by ashadmin No Comments

Now that it’s mid-March I’m ready for the weather to warm up and to wear all my favorite spring things! I love the shift of seasons and the start of spring is always one of my favorites. Lately I’ve been going through my closet, purging what I no longer wear and trying to take note of any gaps to fill. I recently went through my sandals and wanted to share some spring trends I’m loving right now.

Braided details

Braided sandals are huge this season. I purchased this pair a few weeks ago on Forever 21’s website – they’ve since sold out. Target has a really similar pair here. I’m also loving this pair.

Studs

I got this studded strappy pair last spring and have worn them a ton. They’re comfortable and go with everything – sundresses, shorts, jeans, etc. They’re back again this year and I’m also loving this slide version.

Pearls

Along the same line as studs, pearl embellishments are huge right now. I’ve seen so many cute pearl pairs like these, these and these.

Freedom Moses

These are basically rubber birkenstocks and I can’t get enough of them. They’re light weight, water proof and come in SO MANY fun prints. This is the pair I have and I’m linking a bunch here.

Designer inspired slides

I’ve had this style of shoes for the past 4 years and always go back to them. I recently picked up a white pair and wore them quite a bit in the desert a few weeks ago. They’re neutral, comfortable and go with so much. They also come in black and tan.

Best Artificial Christmas Trees

November 6, 2020 by ashadmin No Comments

I think holiday decorating starts earlier and earlier each year. Here we are not even one week after Halloween and I’m already thinking about decorating. Last year we decorated our tree mid-November but waited until after Thanksgiving to hang our lights outside… I’m thinking we’ll do something similar this year. Another reason to get started at least thinking about things early is because lots of decorations sell out quickly. And with the extra time everyone has spent at home this year… I think they’ll go even faster.

Our tree is from Balsm Hill, we invested in it a few years ago during a big Cyber Monday sale. Their trees look so real and beautiful but are definitely a splurge. I wanted to share other great artificial trees at various price points.

Target has some great options 9 foot and 7.5 foot and a really pretty flocked tree.

If you’re wanting a smaller tree for a table top or just a small space I found a few beautiful ones at Anthroplogie: here, here. I also love this faux noble fir tree from Anthro. and a really pretty flocked tree.

I also found a few great options from Walmart – 7.5 foot, and this one that comes in 6 foot – 8 foot sizes.

Pottery Barn has a few splurge worthy options that are gorgeous and timeless – here and here.

A few other decor items I picked up last year that are back in stock at Target – this pom pom tree skirt, white beaded tree garland and mixed greenery artificial garland.

Hope you have a great weekend – thank you so much for reading and following!

A Peek At My Thanksgiving Table

November 9, 2018 by ashadmin No Comments

This year I wanted to create a boho table scape for Thanksgiving. I’m not hosting, but I thought it would still be fun to pull together some pieces I already had for this. Styling a table is another fun way to be creative and dress something up. Plus I love an excuse to show off our dining room table that Jeff built. 🙂

china, napkins, napkin rings, glasses, table runner, similar pumpkins, chairs

Just don’t look too closely… we still don’t have chairs on one size of the table. Jeff planned to build a bench, but I’m still undecided. We might just buy three more of the rose gold chairs from Anthropologie for an easy fix.

Back to the table scape…

I bought fresh dried lavender and eucalyptus at Trader Joes to get it started. Now my house smells so fresh, I’m reminded why I need to have lavender on hand more often. The glasses and napkin rings are a World Market find and I had everything else already. I also love an excuse to bring out our wedding china. It seems silly that a big purchase like that is only used once or twice a year… if you’re lucky. Ours has been used once in three and a half years. #oops I also want to talk about this macrame table runner. I found it on a crazy sale at Anthro awhile back. I think someone bought it and returned it so they marked it way down. I love a good find like that and it’s been on my table ever since. I’ve loved styling it for fall and think it will be really pretty at Christmas time too. Maybe with some other greenery or my new obsession, fairy lights.

How To Make The Perfect Cheese Plate

October 16, 2018 by ashadmin 1 Comment

Is it too early to start counting down to the weekend? I thought a cheese plate post might help turn up this Tuesday. I’m definitely not the most domestic, but I can handle a cheese plate. They’re the perfect appetizer for a dinner party… or just a random Tuesday. And they’re so easy to make! A little creamy, a little savory, a little tangy, a little sweet… my recipe for making the perfect cheese plate. It’s taken me a few years but I think I’ve finally mastered this fine art.

table runner, cheese board, wine glass

I picked up everything at Trader Joe’s, here’s what I got:
  1. Brie Cheese
  2. Fig & Olive Crisps (Jeff’s not a huge fan of these but I can’t get enough of them)
  3. Spanish Meat Sampler
  4. Raw Almonds
  5. Green Olives
  6. Toscano Cheese with Cracked Black Pepper (a favorite in our house, we go through this so fast)
  7. Strawberries
  8. Olive Tapenade
  9. Blue Cheese
  10. Classic Original Water Crackers

Cheese boards are one of our favorite things to order when we’re out for drinks. And we often make them at home for dinner when we don’t want to or can’t go out. Add in a little (or a few bottles) of wine and it’s the perfect at home date night.

There’s really no wrong way to create a cheese plate… at least in my book. Have fun with it! Make sure you have a few different cheeses, crackers or bread, and whatever else you’d like. I forgot to pick up my favorite Fig Butter the last time I was at Trader Joe’s but that’s usually a big staple for me. I also love to do honey or another kind of jam for a fun sweet spread.

What do you put on your cheese plates? I love hearing and seeing different ways to do it!

Beach Evenings

August 20, 2018 by ashadmin No Comments

Crosby’s swimsuit (in red and similar style)

Some pictures from our family beach evening last week. Late afternoon/early evening is our favorite time to go lately because it’s not crowded and a lot cooler than the afternoon. I got this bathing suit from Peixoto months ago but this was surprisingly the first time I’ve worn it. It’s no longer available in black but I found it in Navy... which I might even like more. And of course, Crosby was so cute in her little Burberry suit.

She is such a beach baby and always has so much fun running around in the sand. She also loves the water and gets so excited when we’re down on the edge.

I know summer is winding down, but we’re excited for September. It will still be really warm here but the crowds will be gone, so I’m sure we’ll do more beach days. There are some great end of summer sales right now. I’m loving this bikini top I think it would be so cute with a skirt. I also love this coverup… it’s perfect for the beach or pool. PilyQ makes some of my favorite suits – I have this one in another color way but love the pink and red and at under $50, you can’t beat the price! I always love a set and this one is amazing.
