Rainy Day Style

April 7, 2020 by ashadmin 1 Comment

At this point in quarantine the highlight of our days has been time spent outside. The kids and I (and sometimes Jeff) have been taking two long walks around the neighborhood every day and spending as much time playing in the back yard as possible. I feel especially fortunate to have a backyard right now. It really makes the days go by faster and has been so much fun. This week we’re having back to back rain storms and are pretty cooped up inside. We decided it was time to finally get Crosby some toddler rain gear.

Crosby’s raincoat, dress, leggings, rain boots

my sweater, similar trench, jeans, rain boots (in other colors, shorter style), similar umbrella

We went with yellow because it’s so classic and Wilder will be able to wear them when Crosby outgrows them. Toddler rain boots and raincoats are cute but nothing is as cute as them actually dressed in them. She looks like the Gordon’s fisherman! Crosby is still undecided on if she actually likes getting wet, but she does seem to love “jumping” in puddles after the rain stops.

It’s kind of really challenging bringing both kids out in the rain alone, since Wilder is so young and not walking yet, but we’re trying not to let that slow us down. This morning I put him in a jacket and put him in this carrier. So far it’s been the best solution. Fingers crossed we get a break in storms and can go out for a long walk later… if not we’ll be puddle splashing and dodging rain drops as best as we can.

Sister Brother Matching Outfits

October 3, 2019 by ashadmin No Comments

It’s pumpkin patch season! We kicked it off by visiting one of our favorite pumpkin patches last weekend. Look at how little Crosby was at the same pumpkin patch exactly a year ago! And Wilder was probably the size of a strawberry. So crazy how time flies.

on me: similar hat, dress c/o, similar shoes (here and here), name necklace, moon necklace, sunglasses, sunglasses chain, baby carrier c/o

on Wilder: similar outfit, shoes c/o

on Crosby: similar bow, similar dress, similar shoes

I was so excited that the kids fit into these matching outfits. So was Crosby, she’s currently obsessed with matching with Wilder. Their outfits are from Miles Baby and they have some other really cute matching things for sisters and brothers… or whoever!

My dress was a little much for a pumpkin patch, but I had just gotten it and really wanted to wear it. I think it will be really cute dressed up a little more with either booties or knee high boots and a suede jacket.

We’re heading to Big Bear today and while we’re excited to get away, it’s always a bit of a gamble traveling with kids. This will be our first trip since Crosby started climbing out of her crib… no more pack ‘n’ play. We borrowed this tot cot from my parents. Fingers crossed she actually sleeps. I’m not worried about Wilder. He’s at the best age for travel. We brought Crosby to Big Bear for the first time when she was just a little older and she was a dream. We’ll bring this travel bassinet/crib for him to sleep in.

How To Survive Travel With a Toddler & Baby

July 30, 2019 by ashadmin No Comments

Last week we took our first trip as a family of four. I’m still exhausted and think I need a vacation to recover. 😉 I got so many questions about traveling with two kids. I am by no means an expert, but there were a few things that were very helpful. I want to share my must haves when traveling with a toddler and an infant.

First off, we stayed in a hotel but the rooms were all suites. We had a bedroom that was separate from the living room/kitchen. Wilder slept in our room and Crosby slept in the living room. If we didn’t have the separation I don’t know what we would have done… it would have been A LOT more challenging.

White noise machine – We brought two for this trip. One went next to Crosby’s bed while she slept and one went under Wilder’s. They use them at home too and are very used to them. Also helpful for sleeping in hotels with the noise outside/across the walls/etc.

Travel Cribs or Pack n’ Plays:

We brought two since Crosby still sleeps in a crib at home. Crosby slept in this one from Babybjorn. It’s a pretty standard travel crib that’s easy to assemble and comfortable for her to sleep in.

Wilder slept in this one from Guava Family. We’ve used it since Crosby was an infant and love it because it works as a bassinet for a baby and then converts into a more standard pack n’ play as they get older. If you only buy one pack n’ play, get this one.

Other baby gear we brought with us that are great for travel:

Babybjorn bouncer – folds up easy to travel with.

DockATot – great for on the go, they also make a travel bag for it.

Babybjorn carrier – the best one I’ve tried for the infant phase.

Wine – kidding, but not really.

Good luck! XO

On The Go With MiaMily

October 2, 2017 by ashadmin No Comments

I was asked to participate in the #MiaMily3DBabyCarrier campaign, sponsored by MiaMily. Although I have been compensated, all opinions are my own.

Since having Crosby one of the questions Jeff and I get the most is how has our life changed. Obviously it has in a big way but honestly most of the time it doesn’t feel like a very drastic change.

Best Amazon Prime Day Deals

July 11, 2017 by ashadmin No Comments

I thought I loved Amazon and then I had a baby and realized I couldn’t live without it. The first few weeks at home with a newborn you don’t want to leave your house. There’s never been anything more convenient than using the Amazon app and ordering whatever it was we needed at that moment… a pumping bra, diapers, sleep sacks, nail clippers, white noise machine – just to name a few. The best part was they’d show up to our house the very next day because we have Amazon Prime. I honestly don’t know what new parents did before this.
