Overalls for Pregnancy and Beyond

February 26, 2019 by ashadmin No Comments

We did it! We moved Crosby into her new bedroom over the weekend… so far, so good… or about as good as can be expected while she’s teething and going through a sleep regression. No one is getting a full night’s rest around here these days. Now that we have less than seven weeks until baby boy is due, it’s crunch time to get the nursery ready. I wore this outfit on Sunday when we officially made the room switch, snapped a mirror selfie and got so many questions about where my overalls and other pieces were from, I knew I had to shoot it for a blog post.

Lots of questions regarding if these were maternity overalls. They are! I got them from Pink Blush about a month ago, but they’ve since sold out in most sizes. Sad! They seem to re-stock pretty often, so definitely keep an eye out if you’re interested. Size note, I’m wearing a small and they fit perfectly. I did find a few similar maternity pairs here and here and non-maternity here and here.

I also want to mention that Shopbop is having one of their amazing sales where the more you spend, the more you save. I’ve had my eye on these these slides for awhile now. I think they’re so cute for spring and summer. I always use these sales to shop my favorite brands – Free People, BB Dakota, Levi’s, Agolde, Peixoto, PilyQ.

Use code GOBIG19 for…

15% off orders of $200+
20% off orders of $500+
25% off orders of $800+
…including sale items!

Donut Date

February 19, 2019 by ashadmin No Comments

The sun is finally shining but we’re still bundled up over here. It seems like it’s been the longest and most real winter we’ve ever had. It was like 50 degrees yesterday. Our winter clothes are getting a lot of use! I wore this faux fur BB Dakota coat all weekend… even around the house. It’s been a favorite for months, but I’m looking forward to swapping it out for something a lot lighter soon I hope. We cannot wait for warm weather!

on me: jacket c/o, henley, necklace, similar jeans (non-maternity option), shoes

on Crosby: similar bow, jacket, t-shirt, leggings, shoes

We had a photoshoot to celebrate Crosby’s first real donut! She has an egg allergy and has only vegan donuts, but this weekend we decided to try a real one and see if she had any reaction. We only let her have a couple bites, but she didn’t get a rash or itchy like she used to. Fingers crossed that she’s over her allergy. A lot of times kids outgrow them by the time they’re two so we’ll see. I’m going to try a few more baked goods with eggs in them before her Birthday in hopes of her having a regular (not allergy free) cake this year.

How cute are Crosby’s leopard leggings?! I got them at Target last week for $5 and she’s already worn them a few times. I love her in leopard and they coordinate so well with my leopard sneakers… a designer dupe that are also a steal.

Flirty Red Dress

January 24, 2019 by ashadmin 2 Comments

The weather is warming up and I’m getting into the Valentine’s Day spirit over here. Love a fun dress for V-Day and when I saw this one I knew it would be perfect. It’s not maternity and doesn’t have a lot of stretch so I went up 2 whole sizes and it actually fits great! This bump is getting so big, if I want to wear non-maternity I definitely need to size up.

I tracked down some other festive dresses that I think would be so cute with or without a bump #pregsandregs

  • This one is perfect and under $15. It comes in two colors and I think I want to order both.
  • Instagram’s favorite non-maternity maternity dress. Ha! But it’s so flattering pregnant or not. Love this color for Valentine’s Day.
  • A similar vibe to the one I’m wearing and only $20. Definitely size up if you’re pregnant.
  • This one is more of a rust color but I love the shape and the subtle ruffle at the bottom. And it looks so comfortable!
  • If you’re looking for something fancier, this one is a great option. I have it in a few colors and think it would definitely work with a bump too. Again, size up.
  • Obsessed with this one. The details are so dainty and pretty and love the print.
  • This one would be really cute with tights or boots if you live somewhere colder.

And because kids are even more fun to dress, I got this dress for Crosby. Gymboree is going out of business so I popped in the other day and picked up a few things. I also got her two cute t-shirts: here and here and these socks to match. Their sale is happening online too and there’s a lot for an additional 50% off.

Pregnancy Weight Gain

January 14, 2019 by ashadmin 5 Comments

The quote from Mean Girls, “these sweat pants are all that fit me right now” has never suited my life more. This might be an unpopular opinion, but I dislike being pregnant in the winter. Especially this winter where it’s actually been cold and rained more than I’m used to and I’ve needed to bundle up. I know being pregnant in the summer comes with plenty of it’s own challenges, but I’d gladly trade stuffing my body into sweaters and sweatpants for the wardrobe options of the warmer months right now.

I just want to wear dresses and bikinis and call it a day. Ha. If I was actually pregnant in the summer I’m sure I’d find something else to whine about, but for now this is my current struggle.

Seeing myself in photos each week is not making this any easier. As my body grows and the temperatures continue to drop, I’m feeling more and more like a blob with each extra layer I wear. Being 5’4 doesn’t really help that. I’ll admit, mentally it’s really hard for me to gain weight… especially with the pressure of social media/my job. When I’m not pregnant I really don’t weigh myself, so seeing the number on the scale go up at the doctor’s office every month is a big struggle. With Crosby I gained 22 pounds total. This time around I’ve already gained 20 and I still have 13 weeks to go.

I’m definitely not saying this for any kind of sympathy and am not meaning to turn this into a pity party, I’m sharing this because I’m sure I’m not the only one that is feeling or has felt this way. Pregnancy is hard. Adding extra pressure on yourself while pregnant is even harder.

All that aside I’m grateful for this experience. I’ve had two healthy pregnancies without many complications which is more than I could ever ask for.

I’m just over here hoping the weather warms up so I can wear what I want. Until then expect to see less of me and more of other areas of my life on here.

My 5 Favorite Winter Coats

January 11, 2019 by ashadmin No Comments

This has been the most consistently cold winter I can remember. I know we have it pretty easy in Southern California and I’m not dealing with snow or ice BUT I have needed a coat more days that not in the last month, if that tells you anything. This spotted moto coat  from LOFT made its way into my closet and I’m loving it. It makes a subtle statement and can easily be dressed up or down.

In the spirit of the winter season I wanted to round-up my favorite coats currently making the rotation in my wardrobe.

  1. This sherpa wrap jacket is an easy choice because of how comfortable it is. It’s definitely on the more casual side but is a great staple and I’ve worn it with so many different outfits.
  2. If you’re looking for something that hits a little higher, this furry jacket is a great pick. It has a subtle champagne/blush tint but appears more cream in photos. A great neutral.
  3. I’ve raved about this teddy coat too many times to count and worn it even more in the short month I’ve owed it. It comes in several colors, under $50 and looks identical to coats that cost at least double. What’s not to love?
  4. I got this blush faux fur jacket back in September when I was still wearing bikinis and hiding my pregnancy. I couldn’t imagine a day below 75 degrees when I’d actually need a coat. Fast forward a few months and I’m so glad I have it.

Now that I’ve put together this list I realize I don’t need any more coats or jackets for a while… or at least until I find another one I can’t live without!

Merry Christmas!

December 24, 2018 by ashadmin No Comments

Merry Christmas Eve! I hope you had a fun holiday weekend, we sure did! We had a holiday dinner Friday night, went to a friend’s house to watch the boat parade again Saturday night and snuck in one last visit with Santa yesterday. This time we brought Jeff along too and didn’t torture Crosby by making her sit on Santa’s lap…. we still got the Santa photos though.

on me: dress c/o, similar boots

on Crosby: jacket, dress, tights, shoes c/o

We went to a really cute story time/sing along at Pelican Hill Resort. They’ve had this going all month and we finally got in on the last day. It starts out with Santa singing and reading stories to the kids and then they can take pictures with him after. A good way to get warmed up! Crosby was definitely interested in the story and singing part and I’m sure next year she’ll be even more into it.

I wore this cute dress from BB Dakota I’ve had for a couple months now. It’s under $100 and perfect for a fun winter event. It’s not maternity, but is bump friendly if you size up. I went up one size and it was a little tight at this point. Maybe go up two sizes if you’re further along in your pregnancy. I’m just happy I got a chance to wear it this year before I’m too big. It was perfect with my OTK boots.

I think Crosby might have stolen the show in her SGT. Pepper’s jacket, dress and high tops. I’ve never seen anything cuter. Check out her face in the first Santa photo… pure terror as she practically rips Jeff’s shirt off of him.

Hope you have a very Merry Christmas! Thank you so much for reading, following and supporting me!
