Happy Memorial Day! The sun is finally out and we’re spending the day outside. It might not be super warm but that’s not going to stop us. Last year Crosby and I wore the blue version of these cute Peixoto pom pom coverups in Palm Springs. We were so excited for a new set this year… I’m still going strong with anything “mommy and me” matching.
You probably notice Crosby’s lollipop (pop) in these photos. I bring out all the bribes these days when I want her to participate. I may even keep a small stash of dum dums in my diaper bag… no shame there.
If you’re shopping today, make sure to check out my sale roundup post. So many great deals are still going strong! Hope you have a great one.
Today I’m rounding up some of my favorite moments from 2018. I feel so lucky to have so many photos of everything that’s happened this year. That’s definitely one of the best parts of blogging. It was so crazy putting this post together and seeing Crosby grow each month. I can’t believe she’ll be two in just a couple of months and then a big sister a month later. Something tells me 2019 is going to be just as special. Thank you so much for following along and happy New Year!

Another cozy sweater look coming your way. I’ve worn this heart sweater from Madewell so many times since I got it just a couple weeks ago. I was worried it wouldn’t fit right with the bump but I went up a size and it’s perfect.
You know who wasn’t into her sweater? Crosby. Lately when she’s cold she refuses to wear a jacket or sweater… crazy kid. Sadly her sweater was from the Sarah Jessica Parker collab at GAP and is sold out. It’s such a cute statement, hopefully she’ll want to wear it again one day soon.
I still can’t believe New Years Eve is Monday. I really feel like it was just February and don’t know how the year went by so quickly. I also can’t believe we have less than 4 months before our little guy is born. I don’t want to extend my pregnancy by any means but part of me is hoping these few months go by a little slower. I still have SO MUCH TO DO.
On thing I feel ahead of the game on is his shoe closet that we’ve been stocking with Freshly Picked newborn mocs. It probably doesn’t come as a surprise since Crosby’s been wearing them ever since she could fit into them.
And speaking of, there’s an amazing sale going on over at Freshly Picked. It’s a “grab bag” sale where you can save so much by choosing a grab bag of sorts. Check it out here. Also, they have an amazing membership program where you can get better deals on everything. If you sign up use code FPxAshnFashn to get your first month free.
Ever since we announced baby #2, the gender questions have rolled in. “Do you know what you’re having?” “Do you want a boy since you already have a girl?” Our answers are yes and we don’t care. Or maybe I didn’t care but deep down I knew Jeff wanted a boy.
We did a blood test and found out the gender back in September when I was about 11 weeks pregnant. We did the same test with Crosby and I can’t imagine waiting any longer to find out, I’m super impatient and need to know ASAP. And as far as preference goes, I really would have been fine with either. It would be nice for Crosby to have a sister… plus we already have all the clothes. But a boy would be fun too… and the first grandson on both of our family sides.
I think these photos will spell it out for you…
It’s a BOY!!! We are so excited to add a little guy to our family! Jeff’s still shocked. He thought he was going to end up in a house full of girls! I’m most excited to see both Jeff and Crosby with a baby boy.
Jeff actually surprised me with the news the day we found out. Scratch that, he tortured me. We made a video on IGTV and you can actually watch us finding out.
I had a gut feeling it was a boy pretty much from the start. Which was weird since this pregnancy has been identical to my pregnancy with Crosby. And it goes to show that most of those old wives tales are just for fun, there’s a 50/50 chance on all of them.
I’m so excited for this new baby and kind of feel like I’m starting from scratch. If you have any favorite places to find cute boy clothes, please fill me in! I’ll be sharing everything as we go from nursery decor to the clothes I find.
Thank you SO MUCH for all the love and excitement you’ve shown our family. It feels like I have a bunch of friends cheering me on and makes me even more excited for this new chapter. XO!
Some pictures from our family beach evening last week. Late afternoon/early evening is our favorite time to go lately because it’s not crowded and a lot cooler than the afternoon. I got this bathing suit from Peixoto months ago but this was surprisingly the first time I’ve worn it. It’s no longer available in black but I found it in Navy... which I might even like more. And of course, Crosby was so cute in her little Burberry suit.
She is such a beach baby and always has so much fun running around in the sand. She also loves the water and gets so excited when we’re down on the edge.
I know summer is winding down, but we’re excited for September. It will still be really warm here but the crowds will be gone, so I’m sure we’ll do more beach days. There are some great end of summer sales right now. I’m loving this bikini top I think it would be so cute with a skirt. I also love this coverup… it’s perfect for the beach or pool. PilyQ makes some of my favorite suits – I have this one in another color way but love the pink and red and at under $50, you can’t beat the price! I always love a set and this one is amazing.
When I found out I was pregnant with Crosby my family and friends were convinced I was having a boy. And that would have been fine… but deep down I knew I always wanted a girl. Now that she’s a toddler, dressing her is so much fun, especially when we can match. We were sent mommy and me matching swimsuits from 98 Coast Av right after she was born and I’ve been dying to wear them ever since. Sixteen months later, her’s finally fits and we couldn’t pass up a chance to rock them.
Sunday, after her afternoon nap, I got the brilliant idea to head to the beach. For some reason I assumed 4 pm on a Sunday in the middle of the summer wouldn’t be as crowded as Disneyland in December. One hour later after failing to find parking and getting stuck in a monster traffic jam coming off the peninsula I was ready to just head home and forget about it. Jeff decided to head up the coast a bit to make our beach dreams happen. Or at least satisfy his crazy wife.
We didn’t stay long… something about the wind and a runaway toddler don’t really mix well. But we still had fun and got a couple of cute shots. I’m savoring the days of being able to dress her however I want. I know someday she will have all kinds of opinions, but for now we’re happy to match.
Since our suits are over a year old and no longer available, I wanted to share some other cute options.
I love the palm print on these, they also come in a pink option.
These mommy and me matching monokinis are SO CUTE.
