Spring Cravings

March 18, 2019 by ashadmin No Comments

Spring is my favorite season overall and to dress for. There’s just something so refreshing about spring clothing… especially after the long winter that we had this year. I’m not currently buying a lot of spring clothing just yet (because 9 months pregnant), but I’m definitely doing a fair amount of browsing and picking up things I know will work now and in a couple months (ie bags, hats and shoes). I wanted to share what’s on my spring radar.

from the photo above:

bag, striped bikini top and bottoms, mustard one piece, hat, denim skirt, mustard bikini top and bottoms and striped one piece

Shell jewelry: I’ve been loving seeing this throw back trend popping up again. I just got this shell choker form amazon and want a bracelet or anklet too. So fun for spring and summer!

Clear tote bags: Another fun trend for spring are clear tote bags like this one. I first spotted it on Shopbop but found an amazing dupe on amazon for a fraction of the cost.

Macrame: Always hot this time of year. I picked up this bag on a recent trip to F21 and have already used it a hand full of times.

Hats: Again, always a favorite during the warmer months. Some new additions to my closet this year are this hat – didn’t have anything like it color-wise in my closet and know I’ll wear it a ton. It also comes in honey. and this black hat from F21. Both are under $50 and great spring/summer staples that will sell out.

left hat, middle hat, right hat, left bag, right bag, sandals, rug, coffee table

What I’m looking forward to wearing again post baby…

High waisted denim: Both shorts and jeans. These shorts have been on my radar the past couple of years and I’m thinking of finally pulling the trigger on them this year. Of course, I need to wait until after I have the baby and see what size I’m wearing before I order, but I know they’ll be a great staple. I’m also dying to get back into my Levi’s. I have this pair in 2 sizes so hopefully I’ll be able to wear the bigger one first and then transition back into the smaller pair.

Casual Style + Fall Hats I Love

September 30, 2018 by ashadmin 1 Comment

Hope you’ve had a great weekend! Coming to you on a Sunday with another casual fall outfit, and a look I’ve been repeating quite a bit the past few weeks. But that’s probably very obvious. A hat, tee, some fun jewelry, cutoff shorts and sneakers are all pieces I’ve had on repeat and I don’t see that stopping any time soon.

We’ve been pretty lucky with weather… it can get HOT this time of year, but so far it’s been pretty mild. There have even been a few days when it’s in the low 70’s so I swap my shorts for a pair of high-waisted jeans. Really getting creative over here. 🙂

I’ve had this hat for years and it’s my favorite. It’s so hard to find hats that fit and aren’t too floppy. I’ve purchased and returned a lot that end up being floppier than I thought. I love a good structured brim so I’ve searched high and low for some similar options… mostly because I wear this one too much. I’ll probably “accidentally” add at least one to my cart.

  • This one comes in three colors, is only $34 and has a great brim.
  • Hat Attack is one of my favorite hat designers and I love this one.
  • Another one I’m loving for fall is this one. How fun is the feather?
  • This one is a really pretty shade of grade and the brim looks like it will stay put.
  • I love the dark brown and black options on this one and it’s under $50.
  • Obsessed with this one with the wider brim, also under $50.
  • I love the mustard bands on this one from Hat Attack.

What I’ve Been Wearing

September 26, 2018 by ashadmin No Comments

I wanted to do a quick post today to share some of my recent fall outfits. I’m kind of starting to dress more for fall and that’s reflected mostly by the colors I’ve been wearing. Darker hues with some pops. I’m loving mustard or marigold… whatever you want to call it.

We wore these outfits out to dinner last week and had to snap a pic. My top is so soft and I love the color. Crosby was especially cute in her matching set.

I wore this dress to Jeff’s high school reunion over the weekend. I was at a loss for what to wear before I got it in the mail. Once I tried it on I knew it would be perfect.

Here’s another view straight on. You can wear it a different way by tying the neck tie around your neck, but I prefer it hanging.

It’s still a battle to keep anything on the coffee table with a toddler, but I’m trying! These coasters get thrown around the room when she’s playing, but since they’re leather it’s not really a problem.

on Crosby bow, jumpsuit, shoes c/o

I’ve been loving this top, seen above with shorts and below with jeans. It’s absolutely perfect for fall and super flattering.

I’m always a fan of duster cardigans. Love that this one is light weight and a great neutral. It goes with so many things in my closet.

Mommy and Me Denim Looks

August 9, 2018 by ashadmin No Comments

on Crosby: romper, shoes c/o

Another day, another mommy and me matching look! I can’t get enough of these and am taking full advantage of twinning with Crosby while she has no clue. I know in a few years she will probably want nothing to do with this and want to wear princess dresses and ugly stuff from Justice. Am I right?

I was sent this denim dress from Rebecca Taylor a few months ago and waiting for the right time to wear it. The perfect occasion never came up and I got tired of waiting so I pulled it out for a Sunday morning family Target run. Looking back we should have taken at least one photo in the store since our shoes perfectly coordinated with the red shopping carts.

But back to my dress, minus the cutout up top, it reminds me of something my mom would have worn in the 90’s. Remember when denim dresses were all rage? I think it was when GAP was in it’s prime.

I usually stay away from an in between hemline like this one. I think they look best on taller gals. It’s not quite midi, but definitely not a mini. They make my legs look a little on the short side, but something about this dress made me want to take the plunge and I’m glad I did.

It’s getting harder and harder to take pictures with a toddler. Crosby was much more interested in picking up the rocks in front of us than standing with me. But, I’m so glad we take pictures with her often and know I will love thinking back to these fun memories one day.

Hope you have a great day – thanks for reading!

Summer Reading List

August 7, 2018 by ashadmin No Comments

Here’s a look at a typical easy summer outfit for me. As I mentioned yesterday, I’m dressing to beat the heat in cutoff shorts and breezy tops.

It was getting a little repetitive so last week I stopped into Forever 21 and found a few new things. One being this top. I absolutely loved everything about it… especially the color. Sometimes sizing is a little strange at F21 and I found that to be the case with this top. It’s really loose and wide and desperately needs to be taken in. But until I can get around to bringing it to a tailor, I did a little styling trick with some safety pins. It’s fixed… for now.

I also wanted to share my summer reading list. I used to be an avid reader, but as I got older and my life got busier I didn’t have as much time to get into a book. Something changed this summer. I’ve read about three books in the past month and have a list of recommendations I still want to get to.

I typically go for fun, light reads and read when I’m by the pool or at the beach. Well, that was before Crosby. Now I read before bed or if I’m all caught up on work and she’s napping.

All We Ever Wanted – Emily Giffin (always love Emily Giffin’s books and this was no exception)

When Life Gives You Lululemons – Lauren Weisberger (a sort of sequel to The Devil Wear’s Prada, fun light read)

The Party – Robyn Harding (really suspenseful, but I loved it)

All The Missing Girls (reading this now)

The Woman In Cabin 10 – Ruth Ware

Small Great Things – Jodi Picoult

My Husband’s Wife – Jane Corry

The French Girl  – Lexie Elliot

The Marriage Lie – Kimberly Belle

How To Get Your Kid To Eat: But Not Too Much (reading this now)

Mommy and Me Swimsuits

July 24, 2018 by ashadmin No Comments

When I found out I was pregnant with Crosby my family and friends were convinced I was having a boy. And that would have been fine… but deep down I knew I  always wanted a girl. Now that she’s a toddler, dressing her is so much fun, especially when we can match. We were sent mommy and me matching swimsuits from 98 Coast Av right after she was born and I’ve been dying to wear them ever since. Sixteen months later, her’s finally fits and we couldn’t pass up a chance to rock them.

Sunday, after her afternoon nap, I got the brilliant idea to head to the beach. For some reason I assumed 4 pm on a Sunday in the middle of the summer wouldn’t be as crowded as Disneyland in December. One hour later after failing to find parking and getting stuck in a monster traffic jam coming off the peninsula I was ready to just head home and forget about it. Jeff decided to head up the coast a bit to make our beach dreams happen. Or at least satisfy his crazy wife.

We didn’t stay long… something about the wind and a runaway toddler don’t really mix well. But we still had fun and got a couple of cute shots. I’m savoring the days of being able to dress her however I want. I know someday she will have all kinds of opinions, but for now we’re happy to match.

Since our suits are over a year old and no longer available, I wanted to share some other cute options.

  • I love the palm print on these, they also come in a pink option.
  • These mommy and me matching monokinis are SO CUTE.
  • These are really chic and also come in black.
  • Ok I’m dying over these matching suits for mom, girls and boys too!
  • We can’t leave dad out, here’s an adorable father son matching set.
