It might be fall according to the calendar, but I’m still over here sweating like it’s mid-July. One thing I’ve tried to adapt recently is to dress for the season not the weather. This can be tricky when it’s technically autumn but temps are above 100 degrees. My solution? Pick pieces appropriate for the weather in colors for the season. I tried to follow that here with this blue maxi dress but it might be a little more summer than fall. I think I made up for it with my cognac accessories. So while I’m still wearing open-toed sandals, I’m feeling a little more ready for the pumpkin patch.
My first look from our long weekend in Lake Tahoe! We shot this at our hotel, Basecamp South Lake Tahoe, it was really the perfect hotel for us. Between the beautiful beer garden, fire pits where we could roast s’mores every night and the complimentary waffles at breakfast we felt right at home. I especially loved the relaxed vibe of the hotel – it was kind of like an upscale camp, just like the name suggests.
I’ve been holding on to this dress for a couple of months now and felt like Tahoe was the perfect place to debut it. I paired it with my denim jacket, which was a must on a chilly morning. I’d forgotten how cold it gets in the mountains and definitely needed extra layers up there! I’ve also been wearing a lot of hats lately because I’ve been so lazy with my hair.
Shift dresses are perfect for summer. They’re not clingy and can be worn multiple ways. I’ve already worn this one four times in the week and a half I’ve had it. To a sip and see, to work dressed down with converse and two more times because it’s such a good piece. I love dresses that are a statement on their own without going over board and this one is exactly that.
I’m obsessing over bougainvillea right now and want to plant some along the fence in our backyard. I was so excited to find this patch to snap these pictures… what you can’t see is it’s on the side of a parking lot with a Baskin Robins and liquor store 😉
Have a great day – thanks for stopping by!
Sundresses are a main staple for me in the summer. I am always searching for a new one to add to the mix. It’s becoming obvious that palm print is a trend I can’t get enough of. It always reminds me of Palm Springs, which is fitting to wear in the desert. I wore this dress to breakfast on Saturday at La Quinta before changing into a swimsuit for the rest of the day.
I was so excited to find this hat at Nordstrom. At under $30 it’s affordable and so fun for summer. Even better, it disguises messy hair after a day at the pool or beach.
Thanks for stopping by – hope you have a good Thursday!
I swear it was Friday like 5 minutes ago… how is it already Monday?! Hope you had a great weekend. Our weather was amazing… 75 and sunny both days so we took advantage and stayed outside as much as possible. We even watched the Super Bowl in our backyard. It’s been awhile since I did an instagram outfit roundup, so I figured it was time for an update. Remember you can always shop these looks from instagram if you sign up with LiketoKnow.it.
Hope your Monday is a piece of cake – thanks for reading!
