Yellow Striped Body-Con Dress

April 1, 2019 by ashadmin No Comments

Happy April! I can’t believe it’s baby month! I’m due exactly two weeks from today, so it could happen any minute now. Insane! I keep thinking how Crosby was born 11 days early and wondering if baby brother will follow suit. I’m fine with him taking another week or so. Anyway, we’ve been having the best spring weather. I went back for this dress in yellow and am so happy I did.

We shot these photos last weekend at Lido Marina Village. I had no idea but was about to be surprised by my best friends with a little baby sprinkle day. We started with brunch, then pedicures and ended with facials… I was so spoiled and surprised, I’ll never forget it. I’d said from early on in this pregnancy that I didn’t want a shower. I just didn’t think it was necessary because we had everything from Crosby and are constantly getting new products in to test. But it was so nice having a day of pampering with my two best friends. It made the pregnancy feel more real having a little celebration.

You know I’ve loved tight stretchy non-maternity dresses this pregnancy… when the weather would cooperate. Here’s a little run down of what I’ve worn that’s still in stock.

  • This striped tank dress is so fun for spring and it’s only $15! I’ve worn it a few times, most recently last week to take Crosby to the Easter Bunny.
  • I got this short sleeve ribbed midi dress in gray, but now it’s only available in black. It’s a great basic and under $20.
  • Loved wearing this blush/salmon midi dress. It’s a bit longer which was a nice change and looks so good with a cardigan or kimono worn over it. I wore it to a friends baby shower last month.
  • This ruched bodycon dress was an early favorite. I have it in gray and black and loved wearing it early in my pregnancy. I actually wore them before I was pregnant so I didn’t size up and they ended up being too short to wear later with my big bump. If you’re pregnant, definitely size up.
  • I wish I’d found this long sleeve ribbed dress earlier. I got it at the end of February but it would have been perfect to wear when it was cold this winter. It still works for spring and comes in a couple of colors!
  • I loved this red belted sweater dress. It’s a bit dressier and perfect with a bump. It looks so much more expensive than it actually is at $25 and it’s super similar to the white one I wore the other day.
  • This short sleeve dress is so cute and casual and only $13! I have it in periwinkle and it also comes in black. I was surprised by how soft it is.

Mommy and Me Band Graphic Tees

March 1, 2019 by ashadmin No Comments

Happy Friday! Excited to head into another (hopefully) productive weekend of nesting and getting stuff done. You know I can’t miss an opportunity to twin with Crosby so when I saw this toddler Rolling Stones t-shirt at Target I picked it up to match with this one from my closet. Of course getting her to pose with me in them proved to be next to impossible. #toddlers But how cute was she once I left the frame?

I cannot believe she turns two in less than two weeks! It might be because I’m pregnant again but I feel like I was just pregnant with Crosby. Time seriously moves so fast! She had her first ballet class the other day and it was the cutest thing. Wasn’t really into it at first but once she convinced Dada to join she was all in.

I only have about 6 weeks left of this pregnancy but I’ve been in a bit of a rut fashion-wise. There’s only so many days I can wear leggings, you know? I’ve been looking around for spring pieces I can wear both now and after I have the baby.

I think this dress is so pretty for both. It would also be a great dress to wear for maternity or newborn photos and it also comes in gray. These shorts wont really work for pregnancy, but I’m loving them for post-baby. Anything high waisted! If you size up, this one shoulder pullover is another cute option for pregnancy and can be tucked in after baby. I’m also loving this cute black and white polka dot dress for after baby. Would be so cute with a denim jacket.

Pregnancy Fashion Struggles

February 13, 2019 by ashadmin No Comments

Over the weekend I was feeling so blah and uninspired with the current rotation of things that fit me. A total wardrobe rut. I decided to shop my closet, if you will, and put together this look with pieces that are all a couple of years old. Sometimes I think I have these pregnancy wardrobe delusions where I put something on thinking it will still fit the way it did a few months/weeks/days ago and then get frustrated when that’s not the case. So I went back to some old faithfuls that worked my first pregnancy and was happy and comfortable all day.

I also took it as a sign to order a few new things that will make getting dressed a little easier and give me something to look forward to. Bonus when I know they’ll work post-pregnancy too. I got this Free People thermal in the pretty sky blue. I have it in a couple of colors and wear it all the time. It’s so comfortable and looks great with or without a bump. I also ordered this v-neck that’s slightly oversized in gray and this cute balloon sleeve thermal in black.

And then yesterday I got an email from a maternity line I’d never heard of and was immediately inspired. Legoe is an Australian brandand as far as I’m concerned they can do no wrong when it comes to fashion. A lot of times maternity clothes are frumpy and nothing I want to wear but these are all so cute and flattering. I literally want every single piece.

Side note, my coat is one of my favorites but it’s 4 years old and has long since sold out. I had a real hard time finding some similar options for it.

Baby Shower Dresses

February 11, 2019 by ashadmin No Comments

I’ve been getting a lot of questions about baby shower dress inspiration and thought it would make for a fun blog post. Early on in my pregnancy I decided I wasn’t having a shower this time around. I was pregnant with Crosby exactly two years ago and was blessed with two beautiful showers for her. We have a lot we can reuse on baby boy and I’m often sent new products to try out. There’s really no need for another shower.

I will admit, as I got further along in this pregnancy I realized the shower is for more than just the stuff. When you don’t have one it makes your pregnancy almost feel anti-climatic and a little sad that there’s no celebration. But that’s probably the pregnancy hormones talking.

Let’s talk baby shower dresses!

First of all, don’t feel like you have to wear a maternity dress for your shower. For my first baby shower I actually ended up finding my dress at Forever 21 (see the blog post here). There are so many cute options that are non-maternity and still work with a growing bump.

I love this dress (also comes in black) for a shower. It looks super comfy and would be so flattering with a baby bump.

Another favorite from Free People is this dress (comes in ivory too). The square neckline is a fun touch, but the dress itself is so flattering. I love a tighter dress with a slit with a baby bump. I’m thinking about ordering it for maternity photos in a few weeks.

I think wrap dresses can be really flattering for pregnancy. This one is really pretty and would work great with a bump.

I took a deep dive down the Forever 21 site to find the best bump-friendly dresses. First we have this one that I actually wore in our family photos last fall. I went with a small and there was still plenty of room for a bump and think it will actually fit better now. I also love this one with the crochet top. This flounce maxi, this baby blue one, this sweet one with the floral print and this leopard print slip dress. My tip for purchasing from F21 or really any non-maternity dresses is to go up at least one size. When in doubt order 2 different sizes just in case.

As far as maternity dresses go, my favorite place to shop for them is Asos. I got my blush baby shower dress there two years ago (see post here). Lots of the maternity dresses are just maternity versions of regular dresses on their site and the others are usually cute too. This one is so pretty. Another one I love is this one. It’s actually really similar to the dress I wore.

Pink Blush is another maternity go-to of mine. Their dresses are cute and flattering for pregnancy. Love this one (it comes in green and blue too) and think it would be perfect for a shower. This off-the-shoulder dress is another option I love.

Cleobella Maxi Dress

December 27, 2018 by ashadmin No Comments

What day is it? Is anyone else in a post-Christmas fog? The days between Christmas and New Years always seem to blend into a weird haze and I never really know what to do with myself. This year I’m being lazy and productive… the best of both worlds. Jeff’s been cleaning out the garage and once he finishes that we’ll be tackling the guest room. But let’s move on to what I’m wearing.

I wore this gorgeous Cleobella maxi dress to an event at their store a couple weeks ago. Jeff and Crosby tagged along and we were able to shoot it at their pretty space. The dress is not maternity, but I went up a size and it fit perfectly with my bump. I was 22 weeks pregnant here (I’m 24 now) and seem to be getting bigger by the day. The holiday indulging I’m sure doesn’t hurt that… ha.

There are some really great post-holiday sales happening now and I wanted to share my favorite items that I own all on sale. This dress is 45% off making it just over $50. Perfect for NYE. I have this top in a few different colors and it continues to be a fav in my closet. Currently on sale for $34. This fun striped sleeve sweater is on major sale with code GOBIG. This square neck sweater is marked down to $30, it’s such a great basic. I love this coat, it’s so pretty and a fun statement and currently 50% off.  My favorite metallic silver moto jacket is 55% off, making it just over $150. Another fun piece for NYE. This pretty duster is currently under $40. And lastly, these booties are currently under $70.

Madewell Balloon Sleeve Sweater

December 21, 2018 by ashadmin No Comments

My go-to outfit lately has been a sweater and jeans. It keeps me warm and it’s comfortable enough to work with my bump at the stage I’m in right now. I’ve been loving Madewell’s sweater selection this winter. This one is especially fun with the striped balloon sleeves. It has a slight boxy fit and I went one size up to make it work with my bump.

Speaking of Madewell sweaters, here are some more that are catching my eye right now. I love the colors and thick stripes on this one. And the description says it’s made of the coziest yarn – what more can you ask for? I’m not normally a lavender girl but I think this one looks so soft and pretty… and also comes in ivory. Another cute striped sweater in a similar color palette to the one I’m wearing. Lastly, you can never go wrong with classic cable knit. Love this ivory option that comes in two other colors as well.

I cannot believe this is the last weekend before Christmas. I took Crosby to the Newport Beach boat parade the other night and we’re going to go again with Jeff this weekend. We went last year but she was too young to care. This year it was so cute watching her, she loved the lit up boats and saying bye bye to them as they passed.
