I’m a sucker for a brightly colored wall, so when I spotted this one out of the corner of my eye while driving home from Trader Joes awhile back I made a mental note to bring Jeff back here to shoot an outfit. Luckily a month of so later I finally remembered. There are some parts of blogging that seem really strange to other people. Right after I graduated high school, my mom bought me a trench coat from The Gap. At the time I could not imagine ever wearing it. I saw it as an ugly, dated, brown thing that did not appeal to me. Flash forward a few years and I was wearing it and eating my words. I loved it… and I still do. Over the years I’ve acquired a few more and love mixing them into my wardrobe. When I put this navy polka dot dress on the only thing I could think to pair with it was this redish statement necklace. This patriotic color combo is one of my favorites. It never seems trendy or boring and looks great all year round… but especially in the summer.
I had been lusting after this Anthropologie peplum top for awhile and finally pulled the trigger on it. I love the contrasting bold stripes with the soft flowers. It will be perfect with pencil skirts for luncheons and other functions coming up in the warmer months. But Saturday I kept it casual with short shorts and funked it up a bit with an edgy gold necklace.
