Nighttime Skincare Order

January 27, 2021 by ashadmin No Comments

One of my favorite parts of the day is my nighttime skincare routine. Is that weird? It’s one of the only 15 minute periods of time I get with no interruptions or distractions and it is very peaceful. I do it once the kids are down for the night before Jeff and I unwind watching a show. Did you know there’s a correct order for applying skincare? I recently learned about it and realized I’d been doing a few steps out of order for years! Here’s the correct breakdown:

Double cleanse

This is hands down my favorite cleansing balm (and I’ve used a bunch!) I apply to a dry face and rinse with water. It feels like butter and it melts off my makeup before I wash my face.

I alternate between a few different cleansers – this one, this one and this one.

Tone

I’ve used this toner for years and I just started using these toner pads (reminds me of stridex pads from back in the day expect they’re all natural) and this toner.

Serum

I started using these serum capsules a couple months ago and LOVE them. My skin has looked fresher and brighter and felt softer.

Retinol (2x a week)

This is the one I’ve used for over a year. I’m also a fan of these retinol alternative face drops.

Moisturizer

I have a few favorites this one, this one and this one.

Eye Cream

This one is from a drug store brand I started using a few months ago – it has amazing reviews.

Face Oil

The last step that helps to lock everything in. I switch between this one and this one.

A few notes –

ASHLEYJACKEL gets you 15% off all Tula products.

I use this facial steamer after I double cleanse probably 5 nights a week for anywhere from 2-10 minutes.

I keep this face cleansing brush in my shower and use it at least once a week – it really cleanses and exfoliates.

Tried & True Skincare Favorites on Sale

April 20, 2020 by ashadmin No Comments

Happy Monday… but does that it even matter what day it is anymore? I apologize for going radio silent over here the past week, I’m still trying to balance this new normal. Today I want to talk skincare! I haven’t been wearing much makeup lately but have still been focused on skin. I wanted to share my current morning skincare routine…

I start by splashing cool water on my face, I normally don’t use a cleanser in the morning just water.

Then I spray Elemis Pro-Collagen Rose Hydrating Mist all over my face, neck and chest and blot it in. This has such a subtle scent that makes me feel like I’m at the spa.

Next I apply Murad’s Environmental Shield Serum to my face, neck and chest. It’s packed with vitamin C which I feel really helps to wake up my skin.

Followed by Murad’s Environmental Shield Eye Cream. This brightens my eyes so much and instantly makes me feel more awake.

I finish with Tula’s brand new sunscreen. I’m a huge fan of this, it’s not greasy, does not have a white tint, smells great and even has a subtle glow.

All of these products (and all products from their respective brands) are currently on sale.

All Elemis products are 25% off with code LTK25

Murad’s are also 25% off and free shipping with code LTK25

My discount code for 15% all Tula products is ASHLEYJACKEL

Other favorites from Elemis include this cleansing balm… I love both the original and the rose pro collagen, this marine oil, night cream and neck and decollete balm.

From Murad I love this peel, gel moisturizer, age spot correcting serum and recovery eye serum.

My favorite Tula products are this primer, brightening eye balm, cult classic cleanser and these gummy vitamins.

Hope you have a great week – as always thank you so much for reading and following.

Beauty Fridge Benefits

January 14, 2020 by ashadmin No Comments

I’ve been wanting a skincare fridge for awhile now and was so happy that Jeff finally took the hint and got me one for Christmas. I had planned to set it up in our office… but that room is still a catchall/shit show. Until we can get our lives together and have a functioning office, my beauty fridge is set up in our bedroom and I am loving it.

What exactly is a beauty fridge and why would anyone need one?

A beauty fridge is just a mini fridge for your skincare and cosmetics. It is perfect for sheet masks, jade rollers or anything else you want to keep cool. Refrigerating your skincare products can actually help to extend their shelf life and reduce harmful bacteria from becoming present. A refrigerated product may also help calm and de-puff skin and tighten pores whilst giving a more soothing effect than anything stored at room-temperature.

In short, a skincare fridge was absolutely essential to my beauty regimen.

If you’re like me and think you can’t live without one, there are several options available from the most compact to something a little bigger. Their prices vary as well.

This is the one I have. It comes in a few other colors and is the perfect size and price ($50) if you want to give a beauty fridge a try.

This one comes in blue and pink and has a super cute retro look.

This one has a way more modern look and is a little bigger. Love the rose gold.

This is the same size as the one I have but in a fun color combo.

This one comes in coral and mint and is perfect for someone with a lot of beauty products to chill.

This one has really chic rose gold hinges. That in itself is enough to take the beauty fridge plunge.

Here’s what I store in mine…

Sheet masks (20% off with code ASHLEY20)

Jade and rose quartz rollers

Jade face stone

Lip and eye masks

Eye balm (20% off with code ASHLEY20)

Moisturizers

Face spray

(20% off with code ASHLEY20)

Favorite Tula Products + A Discount Code

October 16, 2019 by ashadmin No Comments

This post is so overdue! I’ve been a longtime user and fan of Tula products. I first tried the brand about five years ago and loved it from the get go. Since then they’ve added so many new products that I’ve tried and wanted to put together a blog post with all of my favorites.

But before I get into it I want to share my discount code ASHLEY20 gets you 20% off all Tula products!

Ok let’s break it down…

I’ll start with the basics. This cleanser is their first product I tired and I’ve gone back to it so many times in the last five years. It’s gentle but effective in getting everything off my face after a long day. I even used it while pregnant.

A newer product I love is this primer. It’s called the face filter and definitely lives up to that name. I wear it under my makeup and it’s very subtle but almost has that “Paris” instagram story filter vibe where it slighly blurs lines and imperfections leaving your skin looking better than before.

This oil-free gel cream is a staple in my beauty cupboard. I use it at night after cleansing and before I apply moisturizer and oils. I especially love it in the fall and winter when my skin is on the dry side.

Their newest product I’ve tried and tested is this acne spot treatment. I got it in the mall a few weeks ago and tucked it away until early this week when I blemish popped up on my forehead. I applied this spot treatment twice a day for two days and the pimple left without a trace. The best part is this spot treatment is colorless so you can wear it during the day… and it doesn’t dry out your skin.

Another staple in my beauty routine is this illuminating face serum. I use this on dry skin in the morning under the primer for a little extra boost. It has a really subtle illuminating effect that looks beautiful under makeup… without looking overdone at all.

Last winter when my skin was pretty dry I tried this kefir recovery mask. (Sadly this is no longer available but I’ll link to this kefir serum) Obsessed! I use this at night when I know my skin needs extra moisture. My favorite way to use it is to apply it to my face like you would a face mask and let it sink in for at least an hour. Then you take a damp washcloth and blot the rest into your skin. My skin drinks it up!

Finally another product I tried and got hooked on recently is this rose glow cooling eye balm. I normally use this in the mornings under all my makeup… but it can also be applied over makeup or used as a refresher throughout the day. It’s instantly cooling and brightens your eye are up instantly.

A Little Pampering with Facial Works

March 7, 2017 by Ashley 2 Comments

Last Monday I popped into Facial Works for a little pampering. I’m taking all I can get right now because I know in a few weeks I won’t have this kind of time anymore! Facial Works is a cool spot with a facial bar and services starting at only $50. It’s kind of like the Dry Bar for facials. The location is so cute and has an open room setting which would be perfect for a group of girlfriends.
