How is it already the last Monday in October?! We are gearing up for Halloween over here by visiting one last pumpkin patch. This was actually the second time Crosby and I went to this one, but we had to bring Jeff back over the weekend. When we left our house it was cloudy and cold (and we dressed for that), but once we got there it was hot and sunny. Between the weather a wild toddler and running on little sleep we didn’t last long. But we did get to do one last lap around the pumpkin patch.

I got this top last week and love how comfortable and flattering it is. I sized up one size to a small for a more relaxed fit… and also in hopes it will fit my growing bump this winter. It’s really affordable and comes in two other colors. I LOVE the green. I’m thinking about throwing on some animal ears and wearing it on Halloween for my easy trick-or-treating costume.

Speaking of Halloween… I finally tried Crosby’s costume on her for the first time over the weekend. It did not go very well. My girlfriend is having the same problem with her little boy who is the same age as Crosby. Do all toddlers just hate dressing up? Last year I made Crosby and Mackie wear matching flamingo costumes and it was so cute and easy! I’m hoping she warms up to the costume a little more by Wednesday or we might need to make a last minute change. Fingers crossed.

This is a typical everyday outfit for me. Casual basics that are wearable, comfortable and practical. Just swap the shorts for jeans when it gets a little cooler and you have a look I wear year round.

I have to mention that these photos were taken in Jeff’s old neighborhood… where we used to take so many of my early blog photos. The alley ways were always a favorite to shoot in because of the lighting. Just wish it wasn’t trash day when we shot these. 😉

As I’ve gotten older my style has evolved… or maybe it’s a combo of that plus trends changing over time. Whatever the case, I’ve gone from wearing super trendy pieces to a lot more casual basics. My life has changed a lot too, I’m no longer going to an office everyday, instead I work for myself from home and chase a busy toddler around. Comfort and practical style is key for me right now.

I’m really loving basic t-shirts right now. I got this Madewell tee at Nordstrom Rack a few weeks ago and went back for it in white too, it’s under $20. I sized up two sizes to a medium so I could front knot it and have a more relaxed fit without stretching it out. It’s super soft and comfortable and a great everyday tee.

I’m wearing this thermal open as a cardigan like I mentioned in this post. Another Nordstrom Rack find for under $20. I’m wearing a small and it definitely has a more relaxed fit… which I love and think is perfect for cooler weather. It will also look cute worn as a top, buttoned up and tied at the bottom. Definitely a look I’ll be wearing a lot this fall and winter.

Another weekend that went by way too fast. We didn’t have any plans this weekend so it was nice to relax and catch up with stuff at home. Still not feeling ready for Monday! I’m test driving the belt bag trend today and I have to tell you, I already love it. I went with this really affordable black quilted Urban Outfitters belt bag… and of course, after I purchased it, it went on major sale.

You might be cringing right now and I get it. I know this quite the throw back to the fanny pack trend of the early 90’s, but I’m loving how fun to wear they are. And above that they’re super practical.

Hear me out…

For the past year and a half if I left the house with Crosby I brought a diaper bag full of her stuff. When I needed my wallet, or chapstick, etc I had to dig through the bag. Now I know I can bring my own purse when we go out, but I’ve found that carrying anything else is a hassle. Enter the belt bag… which I’ve decided is PERFECT for mom’s with diaper bags.

Whenever I’m trying out a trendy piece I like to do it affordably so if I don’t like it, it’s no big deal. You can find lots of belt bags for under $50.

Here’s a few I’m loving right now… this one is really chic, comes in 3 colors and is on sale for $19. Another really cute one that also comes in 3 colors… I’m loving the red. This one is a little sportier but really fun with the studs.

TGIF! Was this week extra long for anyone else! For me it was because Jeff was out of town and I was solo parenting until last night. I did had some help, but I am exhausted. Shout out to all the single parent’s out there, I have a huge respect for you. ALSO today is the first day of public access for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! I wanted to share this look because our Thule Urban Glide jogging stroller is on sale. I also have a fun giveaway at the bottom of this post – don’t miss it!

We got this stroller back before Crosby was born and have used it for family walks, runs (if you can call them that) and even our visit to Disneyland last year. It’s comfortable and lightweight but still really easy to maneuver with it’s front swivel wheel. There’s also a little storage space which is always something I look for in a stroller.

I’m wearing my Dog Mom tee to support my first born four-legged daughter. Since Crosby was born she’s definitely taken a bit of a backseat, but she’s still the most loyal companion. While Jeff was out of town she took on the role of guard dog. She was on edge and ready to pounce – barking at every strange sound. It might sound annoying but she really only acts like that when he’s away  and I know it’s because she wants to keep us safe. And she’s about was harmless and loveable as they come.
