I know the groundhog said there were six more weeks of winter, but it has seriously felt like spring here all week and it’s been amazing! Since the weather has been so nice we’ve been spending more time in our backyard and I realized I haven’t shared the few new changes we’ve made back there at the end of summer.
We have a pretty large patio space and have had a nice sized seating area out there – below is what it looked like last summer. Towards the end of summer (blame COVID) we decided to have a built-in bar/bbq built on the of the house. We shifted our dining table so the area wouldn’t be too crowded….
After spending so much of the last year at home I find myself staying the rooms in my house and visualizing how I’d re-do them. One space that’s been bugging me for awhile was our den. It’s a sitting area in between our living room and dining room – the middle of our “great” room and I knew I wanted to do a little makeover on it. After we remodeled our house we purchased two chairs for that space that were kind of an impulse… they were mismatched and on major sale. We liked them at the time but have known for awhile we wanted to replace them. We also stuck an old ottoman in there as the coffee table, so the whole space just felt pieced together.
Last month I ordered these chairs for the room and set out to find a coffee table. I knew I wanted a round one in a light color – either light wood or rattan. I couldn’t find a wood one I liked, and I was worried about having too many mismatched woods between the floor and the chairs. I spotted this one and ordered it for curbside pickup.
I brought these pillows in from our living room and really love how the space has come together. It feels so much brighter and is one of my favorite places to drink coffee or take a call while the kids nap.
Next up we’re looking for a new rug – the hide is old from our last house and seems too dark for the vibe we want. Going back and forth between a jute/neutral one or something like this with a little more color.
Well we made it 1/12th of the way through the year! Ha. I know yesterday was Groundhog’s Day, but truthfully every day has kind of felt like GHD for the past 11 months. Today I’m sharing my January top five sellers and then at the bottom I’m also sharing my Amazon top five from the month as well.
Plaid Shacket – Another month with this as my top seller. This “shacket” – shirt + jacket has been a favorite for the past couple months. It’s currently sold out but sometimes it gets re-stocked. This month I’m loving this tan one.
Free People Pullover – This was also one of my favorite purchases last month and a staple this month. Currently on sale and it’s cozy!
Target Ribbed Tank – I had this in a few colors last summer and was so excited when I saw the tie dyed version. I love these tanks, perfect on their own or layered under something. I bought it in pink and beige.
Outdoor Dining Bench – You can tell we’re inching towards spring when outdoor items are selling fast. We’ve had this bench on one side of our outdoor dining table for two years and love it for extra seating.
Outdoor Tassel Umbrella – Always a hot item! This umbrella sells out quickly but is often restocked. I have two of them and want to purchase another as a spare.
Amazon top 5:
Slippers – So comfortable and cozy. I wear them 24/7 at home.
Teddy Coat– My go-to coat in the winter. It comes in a bunch of colors and is under $50.
Leggings – Super flattering basic leggings. They’re high-waisted and hit right at my ankle. They come in a bunch of colors and prints – I have them in black.
Adidas Sneakers – These are “big kids” sizes – you subtract 1.5 from your women’s size. I wear a 6.5 in women’s and a 5 in these.
Toddler Sneakers – Crosby’s favorite shoes! These are designer inspired and come in 3 colors. They take about a month to come and run a little small.
So happy to finally share Crosby’s beachy mermaid big girl room! This project has been a long time coming and it makes me so happy to finally have it completed.
About a year ago Crosby started climbing out of her crib. She wasn’t quite two and a half yet and we definitely weren’t ready for her to be in a big bed, luckily the crib she was in was able to convert into a toddler bed. If you’re pregnant and shopping for a crib, I highly recommend one that can be made into a toddler bed. They’re really the perfect training beds… extremely safe/low to the ground so you don’t have to worry about them getting hurt if they roll out. Plus it’s a great way to get them used to their independence in their room at nap and bed time.
The first thing we chose for the room was this wall mural from A New Wall. I love the blue and white wave print and knew it would be the perfect starting point for her room. The next thing we found was this gorgeous rattan daybed. I love daybeds for little girls and this one is so perfect for her beach themed room. Since we were installing the mural on two of her walls and it’s such a big statement I figured her rug should be more neutral. I love the texture and design on this one… it will brighten up any space. Finally I found this quilt at Target… it’s sadly sold out now.
A note on the throw pillows – most I’ve had for several years so they’re no longer linkable, I tried to find some similar options that I will link below.
Since we’ve been spending so much time outside during the stay at home period, we’ve finally worked on some finishing touches to bring the patio together. A couple of outdoor rugs, new throw pillows, another umbrella and finally having our tv installed have made a huge difference. Luckily the weather has been amazing so we can spend a lot outside. Jeff and I have especially loved sitting outside once the kids go to sleep at night.
Woah, hello May! I’m not sure how it’s possible but April went by both at lightening speed and a snails pace. The first half of the month we had cold weather and rain, but the second has been filled with sunny days and the best weather. That probably has something to do with it. My April best sellers will give you an idea of what everyone has been up to…. spending all their time at home.
Outdoor table– we purchased this last year during a big Memorial Day sale and have loved it ever since. World Market has had a major sale on all outdoor furniture for the past month and it’s still happening.
Beach Cruiser – probably the cutest adult bike I’ve ever seen. It’s a lot more of a production riding bikes with kids so I don’t get out on this enough. But I really love it and wish I was able to ride more.
*my exact color is out of stock but I love it in yellow and this light blue is really pretty too.
Macrame umbrella – another World Market item. This always sells out really fast but they keep brining it back. If you want it and it says sold out you can enter your email for a restock notification.
Water table – we got this for Wilder for his birthday, but I knew both kids would love it. They spend so much time playing with it, splashing, making rain showers, scooping, etc. Such a great toddler activity.
Kid’s double lounge chair– this is seriously so cute, I wish it was available in adult sizes. We’ve had it for three years now and it’s held up pretty well over time. I love it, the kids love it, Mackie loves it. It also comes in a neutral tan color that I might like more.
*this was so popular I can’t find it in stock anywhere.
As always, thank you so much for reading and following. I hope you’re staying safe and sane at home right now!
