We just spent a fun winter-y weekend in Big Bear with friends. All last week the forecast called for lots of snow so we frantically pulled out our warmest clothes and even ordered chains for the car. Well mother nature had slightly different plans. While it wasn’t quite blizzard conditions we arrived to a teeny bit of snow and got about an inch Saturday night. Just enough to make a bunch of Orange County kids happy… and not too much that we froze.
Summer is winding down but we’re still trying to make the most of it. I actually haven’t talked about this very much the blog, but I’m going back to work (part-time) in just a couple of weeks, so I’m really trying to squeeze in every last bit of fun and family time.
Happy Friday! Hope you have fun plans to look forward to this weekend, we’re supposed to get more record setting rain here today so naturally I’m flashing back to sunnier days last weekend. Jeff and I celebrated a relaxing little babymoon about an hour down the coast at The Hyatt Regency La Jolla. It was the perfect travel distance for me at over 8 months pregnant – no long car rides, no flights, no complaints. We were so spoiled all weekend, I want to go back and do it all over again!
On our way out to Vegas I noticed these colorful rocks right outside the city and told Jeff we were stopping there on the way home. I’d seen them on instagram a few times and wanted to see them in person. The exhibit is called Seven Magic Mountains and it’s made up of these amazingly bright colorful rocks. You can find more information about them here if you’d like to visit.
With less than two weeks to go until Christmas I’m sure some of you are already thinking ahead to New Years Eve. I won’t be doing much celebrating this year, (maybe from my couch with some sparkling cider) but I know a lot of you will be heading out-of-town. Las Vegas is always a popular spot to ring in the new year and I think Aria Resort and Casino would be the perfect place to stay if you’re thinking about heading out there. The location is pretty great, it’s very central on the strip with a tram that takes you down to The Bellagio or up to The Monte Carlo. The resort and casino are so nice and clean I never felt like I was getting a lot of second-hand smoke like most casinos on the strip. And there are SO MANY great restaurants right on site. I wish we’d had more time to try them all.
