I feel like we’re finally making some strides with planning. I’m in the process of interviewing florists and we have our photographer locked in… naturally my brain is focused on engagement pictures. I’ve been brainstorming locations, outfits, etc for our shoot next month and thought I’d share my vision. Below are the two outfits I’m seriously considering, the first is a classic look and the second is more boho beach.

My wedding is just a little over eight months away and I have started dress shopping! Even for someone like me who is extremely decisive and has a lot of opinions, it’s such an overwhelming experience. I made some mistakes on my first shopping trip but have picked up a few tips and thought I’d share.

• Do you hair. This may sound silly but I went in to my first appointment with dirty air-dried locks and felt kinda blah. My hair is stick straight and you can bet I won’t be wearing it in its natural state at the wedding, the very least I could have done is spend an extra 20 minutes with my curling iron adding some waves.
• Makeup. I’m not saying you need to be fully glammed out, but just like I said with hair you’ll want to look your best. Maybe wear a pretty lipstick or spend a few extra minutes with your mascara wand or plucking your eyebrows… anything!
• Wear or bring the proper under garments. Luckily I knew this going in and came prepared with seamless underwear and my favorite backless strapless bra.
• Bring a pair of heels the same height you think you’ll wear at your wedding. Trying on gown barefoot is not ideal and doesn’t give you the best impression. If you’re wearing flats you probably don’t need to worry about this but it never helps to have a pretty pair of shoes to compliment your dress.

I hope these tips help point you in the right direction before your first appointment. I have another appointment today and will be much more prepared this time. Happy shopping!

I’ve always loved wearing a crisp white dress all year round but now that I’m engaged I have even more reason to. This one with it’s feminine lace details is the perfect dress for all these fun occasions like the engagement party, engagement pictures, showers or even the rehearsal dinner. I plan on adding a few more white dresses and other pieces to my collection as I get further in the planning process.

I always assumed I’d be engaged for at least a year, that seemed to be the normal timeline for people I knew. We locked in our venue a few weeks ago at the nine month mark and now have less than that to plan. I started stressing when I saw all the year-long timelines on Pinterest until  I found this great 8 month timeline. Phew! It is possible to do in less than a year.

Although I haven’t even asked my ‘maids (it’s coming girls, I swear), I’ve been quietly hunting for bridesmaids dresses I’d actually want to wear. In the age of mis-matched colors and dresses some brides choose it may seem like there are tons of options… however I’ve found it hard to find anything I really like. Luckily my friend Lauren’s contemporary line Paper Crown recently released a bridesmaid collection with twelve chic designs that are sure to please your besties… especially if you’re as selective as I am. Below are a few of my favorites. I’m especially drawn to the two tea length options, I love a long gown that shows off a cute pair of heels. 🙂 continue reading
