Over the weekend we had our first taste of fall weather this year. It was a nice change from the crazy heat we’ve been experiencing. Naturally that got me thinking ahead to fall and winter fashion… specifically outer wear. Usually at the start of a season I like to take inventory in my wardrobe to see what holes I need to fill. Today I want to talk about my favorite outer wear trends right now.
Teddy Coat
I got this cozy teddy jacket two years ago after seeing it on a friend. It’s an amazon find and it’s so good. I have it in a size small and it’s slightly oversized and was comfortable to wear while I was pregnant with Wilder… and under thick sweaters.
I got this cozy white jacket this year and cannot wait to wear it out of. my house. It’s more of a splurge than the last one but it’s so pretty and it will go with everything.
I put this one in the teddy coat category but it’s a bit different. It’s super soft faux fur in a pretty dusty rose color and has a draped shape. I’ve had it for a few years and have dressed it up and down. It looks really chic with black jeans, a black top and booties or heels.
Moto jacket
I have a few moto jackets (black and silver), but this year I wanted a brown version. I will wear this with so much – everything from casual looks like above, to LBD’s and over the knee boots. Such a versatile piece.
Blazer
There’s something so fun and fall about a classic plaid blazer. This one is from last year, but here is a super similar option. Perfect for the office (ie. zoom meetings while wearing sweats) or casually with jeans and a tee.
Coatigan
Maybe the most versatile option I’m sharing is the coatigan. It’s a hybrid sweater jacket that has a beautiful shape. I’ve had this for a few months and already styled it so many ways – with leggings, jeans, shorts, etc. It comes in a few other colors and runs a little big. I know I’ll be living in this all fall/winter.
Shacket
Not pictured but I can’t wait to try out this trend. Another hybrid – shirt + jacket = shacket. I’ve ordered this one that’s super neutral and can be worn with everything. I’m also eying this pretty plaid option, also neutral and perfect for fall.
