Rainy Day Style

April 7, 2020 by ashadmin 1 Comment

At this point in quarantine the highlight of our days has been time spent outside. The kids and I (and sometimes Jeff) have been taking two long walks around the neighborhood every day and spending as much time playing in the back yard as possible. I feel especially fortunate to have a backyard right now. It really makes the days go by faster and has been so much fun. This week we’re having back to back rain storms and are pretty cooped up inside. We decided it was time to finally get Crosby some toddler rain gear.

Crosby’s raincoat, dress, leggings, rain boots

my sweater, similar trench, jeans, rain boots (in other colors, shorter style), similar umbrella

We went with yellow because it’s so classic and Wilder will be able to wear them when Crosby outgrows them. Toddler rain boots and raincoats are cute but nothing is as cute as them actually dressed in them. She looks like the Gordon’s fisherman! Crosby is still undecided on if she actually likes getting wet, but she does seem to love “jumping” in puddles after the rain stops.

It’s kind of really challenging bringing both kids out in the rain alone, since Wilder is so young and not walking yet, but we’re trying not to let that slow us down. This morning I put him in a jacket and put him in this carrier. So far it’s been the best solution. Fingers crossed we get a break in storms and can go out for a long walk later… if not we’ll be puddle splashing and dodging rain drops as best as we can.

Shopbop Sale Favorites

March 3, 2020 by ashadmin No Comments

Shopbop is having their spring sale now through March 8th. It’s one of my favorite times to stock up on items that rarely (if ever) go on sale. And the more you spend, the more you save.

Jewelry:

You know how much I love Gorjana, and all of her pieces are included in the sale. Some of my favorites I wear all the time are this dainty star necklace, adjustable bracelet, coin pendant necklace (pictured above), lock chain necklace, gold huggies, coin necklace, and crescent pendant (I’ve had this one for about 5 years and continue to wear it all the time).

I’m a big fan of the shell jewelry trend and some pieces I’m eying are… this gold bracelet, shell barrette and pink bracelet.

Denim:

My two current favorite pairs of high-waisted jeans are both included in the sale. The Agolde Jamie jeans (left) and Levi’s 501 Skinny (right). Both pairs are lighter wash, slightly distressed and can be worn tons of different ways.

I ordered two pairs of Agolde shorts and only plan to keep one pair. The Parker vintage cuttoffs and Parker vintage loose fit.

Dresses:

We’re going out Friday night to celebrate a friends birthday and I’m debating between two dresses in my closet. I’ve been wanting to wear both! The first is this sequin fringe dress from BB Dakota (pictured above), I love how unique it is. The second is this vegan leather dress from Rebecca Taylor, it’s such a great LBD and I know I’ll continue to wear it and love it for years.

Swim:

I’ve always been obsessed with swimwear and have more bikinis than I could ever wear. I love buying new ones every year and this neon green smocked bikini (top, bottoms) is my latest that I cannot wait to wear. I’m going to Tulum in a couple months and will definitely be bringing it. I also just got this leopard top and matching shorts that’s a really cute alternative to a coverup. Plus my favorite pom pom coverup is included in the sale and comes in 3 different colors.

*these sunglasses have been a favorite of mine for the past 5 years.

Odds & Ends:

  • I wear these spanx faux leather leggings a few times a week and love them so much. They’re incredibly flattering and can even be dressed up.
  • I love Clare V. bags in the spring and summer, this tote is one of my favorites.
  • Another spring/summer staple of mine is this clutch from Cult Gaia.
  • I’ve almost purchased these white mules so many times, I think they’re so versatile, they also come in snake print.

4 New Years Eve Outfit Ideas

December 27, 2019 by ashadmin 1 Comment

We’re in that weird holiday fog between Christmas and New Year’s where every day blends together and I don’t really know what to do with myself. Truthfully I’ve been pretty lazy and it’s been amazing, but I’m starting to get a little restless and ready to do a little work. Today I wanted to share a blog post with four very different outfit ideas for New Years Eve.

20’s Theme

dress here and here

I got this dress a few months back and tucked it away for a special occasion. It’s such a fun sequin cocktail dress, but my favorite part is the fringe on the bottom. I think it would be perfect if you’re going to any 20’s theme party… or just want something a little different.

Cocktail Attire

dress here and here

This dress is a bit of a splurge but it’s one I’ll have for many years to come. It’s vegan leather and runs pretty TTS. Also comes in a really pretty tealish blue.

Festive but Warm

top, pants

I included this outfit in my holiday party outfit post too, but I the top also works for NYE. If you’re looking for something a little more casual than a dress but still want to be dressed fo the occasion. Love it with these dressy joggers, you could also pair it with black jeans or leather pants.

Comfy on the Couch

joggers

If you’re staying in this year, these joggers are the way to go. They’re so soft (I sleep in them pretty often), have pockets and come in a few fun prints. There’s also a matching hoodie if you want a coordinating set. Honestly a night of comfort sounds like an amazing way to ring in a new decade.

I’m actually still trying to figure out our plans for the night so I have no idea what I’ll be wearing.

Hope you’re having a relaxing holiday week!

Family Trip To The Tree Farm

December 5, 2019 by ashadmin No Comments

Our Christmas tree has been up for a few weeks already, but that didn’t stop us from making our annual trip to the tree lot. And of course, we had to dress the part. I bought these beanies when Crosby was a baby and purchased a second set this year so she could still match us. Guess who didn’t want to wear hers? Ha! At least Wilder is still willing to match with me.

on me: beanie, jacket, top, jeans, shoes

on Wilder: beanie, onesie, pants, shoes

on Crosby: hair clip, outfit, shoes

Obviously comfort is key when I leave the house with the kids. Lately my uniform has been sneakers, high waisted jeans and something comfortable on top that works with the current weather. I missed my high waisted jeans SO MUCH when I was pregnant, I knew they’d be big for me this winter and needed a new pair to add to my rotation. I got this pair from Aritzia and could not be more in love. I probably wore them for a week straight after I received them. So flattering and true to size.

If you follow me on instagram you know we had a tragic incident with Hippo yesterday. He goes everywhere with us (literally everywhere) and somehow got lost at South Coast Plaza when we were there in the morning. Luckily we have a spare (which Crosby doesn’t know about), but after a day of frantically calling and retracing our steps we gave up on Hippo #1. We did order a replacement so we can continue to have a spare. I feel like any mom of a toddler can relate to this.

on me: beanie, jacket, top, jeans, shoes

on Wilder: beanie, onesie, pants, shoes

on Crosby: hair clip, outfit, shoes

Hope you have a great day! Thank you so much for reading a following!

Personal Favorites From the Shopbop Sale

November 26, 2019 by ashadmin No Comments

sweater, jeans

Tis the week, or season I guess, for sales! I know typically you think of Black Friday as the kickoff for “cyber week,” but it seems like lots of retailers start their sales early. One of my favorite places to shop online is Shopbop and today they started their “Buy More Save More Sale.” I wanted to share my favorite pieces I own and love that are included.

But first here’s a breakdown of the sale info…

I do a lot of shopping on Shopbop. They carry so many of my favorite brands like BB Dakota, Wayf, Agolde, Gorjana, Levis, etc. I’m including photos I’ve taken with pieces that I’ve worn over the past few months.

Shopbop Sale Personal Favorites

February 27, 2019 by ashadmin No Comments

coverup, hat

The Shopbop sale is now underway and so many of my favorite pieces are included. It’s the best time to buy designer items that don’t normally go on sale… or maybe just something you’ve had your eye on. I usually take this as a sign to shop ahead for spring and summer, my favorite seasons. One thing I love about Shopbop is their quick shipping and great customer service. I wanted to put a post together to highlight the pieces I love and wear (again and again) before they sell out. The sale runs until March 2nd if you’re wanting to shop it.

Use code GOBIG19 for…

15% off orders of $200+
20% off orders of $500+
25% off orders of $800+
…including sale items!

This coverup/dress is a huge summer favorite of mine. It’s super flattering and I can’t wait to wear it again once it gets warm. This hat was also a fav last summer.

coverup in white

Another coverup I loved last summer was this one. It’s sold out in turquoise but still available in white which is really chic.

jacket, sunglasses

Ahh my favorite moto jacket. Who knew I’d love a silver leather jacket so much, but I do and I’ve found so many things to wear it with. I actually snagged these sunglasses during the sale several years back and they continue to be one of my most worn pairs. Such a great time to buy!

cardigan

This cardigan has taken me all through fall and winter… I wear it at least once a week. It’s so cozy – the perfect layering piece.

jacket

Another cozy layer I’ve had since fall is this faux fur jacket. It runs a little big but is so comfortable – also comes in black!

top

I’ve had this top for three years now and still love wearing it. The photo above was from 2.5 years ago when I was pregnant with Crosby and barely showing. It works with a bump too!
