Mama & Babe Matching Denim Jackets

October 14, 2019 by ashadmin No Comments

I have been dying for the three of us to wear these denim jackets since I got them last winter. Now that Wilder is here and fits into his, Big Bear was the perfect place for us to debut them! Well kinda, since Crosby and I have already worn our a ton. Wilder was so cute in his… there’s just something about a baby in grown up clothes that’s really adorable.

on Wilder: beanie, onesie, denim jacket c/o, pants, shoes c/o

on Crosby: denim jacket c/o, t-shirt, leggings, similar boots

It was mostly in the 60’s in Big Bear during the day with cooler mornings and nights, but I packed like we were going to legit fall. I got Wilder a bunch of new beanies and made sure the kids were both pretty bundled up. The first day we went and walked around town and about melted before I looked at the temperature… I’m sure it was obvious that we were from out of town.

I can’t believe we’re already halfway through October. I need to finish getting a few things for the kids Halloween costumes and then we’ll be all set. Last month I explained Halloween and trick or treating to Crosby and told her she could dress up like anything she wanted. I really didn’t know if she would understand the concept and thought I probably had another year of picking a costume for her. About two hours after I explained everything she came running up to me and told me what she wants to dress up as. She even decided on a costume for Wilder.

How to Travel with a Toddler & Not Lose Your Mind

October 8, 2019 by ashadmin No Comments

We did a little getaway to Big Bear this past weekend and had so much fun. Our friends have a cabin up there and we’re lucky to visit at least once a year. We’ve been going since Crosby was just a little older than Wilder… you can see my post from two years ago here. I was pretty anxious to travel with the kids right now so  I went in with really low expectations for their sleep and was pleasantly surprised. I wanted to share the gear we brought that helped.

But first let’s talk about C & W’s cute personalized outfits. The shop Homegrown Cotton Co sent them a few months ago and I’ve been waiting for cooler weather + Wilder to fit into his. I thought this trip was the perfect place to debut them. I am obsessed with anything personalized. Throw a name or monogram on something and I’m sold.

I was particularly worried about Crosby sleeping on this trip because it was the first time we traveled since she started climbing out of her crib. Obviously she wasn’t going to stay in a Pack ‘n’ Play like she had in the past. We decided to borrow this Tot Cot from my parents and she really seemed to like it. She had her own room that also had two regular sized beds in it and was able to freely move around, but it seems like she mostly stuck to the Tot Cot.

Another thing we brought from home was this safety door knob cover. We use it on her room at home so she can’t open the door. It’s completely childproof and adults are still able to open the door from both directions. It’s definitely crucial for getting her to stay in her room.

We packed our white noise machines as well and put one in Crosby’s room (up high on a window sill so she couldn’t turn it off). Wilder doesn’t really need one so we put the other one right outside Crosby’s door to muffle the noise of people walking by/what was going on in the rest of the cabin.

We also brought both of the kid’s monitors so we could keep an eye on them while they were sleeping. Like I said I was really concerned about Crosby’s sleep going into the weekend so a set of eyes on her at all times was a must.

It’s been a long time since Crosby napped in the car and I was a little worried about that, but we took a chance and left shortly after she normally goes down Thursday. She didn’t make a peep and slept the whole time! Wilder did too. We decided to come home around the same time and lucked out again. Will definitely be planning road trips around naps from now on.

Red Suede Jacket

October 19, 2018 by ashadmin No Comments

Happy Friday! Ending the week with one last look from Big Bear. I’m pretty sure this is the last outfit to post. It’s been so warm this week that it’s strange to see myself in a jacket and duck boots, but I like variety. This long sleeve striped top from BB Dakota is one of my new favorite additions to my closet. I went with a bolder styling here pairing it with this red suede jacket, but it can be worn so many ways. It’s also just as cute on it’s own with a pair of jeans… I wore it that way here.

I got these boots this past winter, but they seem to be sold out pretty much everywhere. I can only find them in a few sizes here. I did find this pair that’s really similar and they look like they’d be so comfortable for rain or snow or just the cold. I wish I had more of an excuse to wear duck boots, but they’re not so necessary in Orange County.

This week seemed to go by pretty fast but I’m still more than ready for the weekend. We have some exciting things planned that I can’t wait to share…. soon!! 🙂

Blush Faux Fur Jacket

October 15, 2018 by ashadmin No Comments

Another look from last week in Big Bear! I was so happy to finally have a place to wear this fuzzy faux fur coat from BB Dakota. It came in the mail a few weeks ago and I knew I’d be bringing it on our trip. It’s so cozy and the color is really beautiful. I can’t wait to wear it more this winter.

BB Dakota is one of my favorite brands for every day and their price points are great too. I’ve been wearing them a lot this fall, from dresses to tops and jackets… they really have a lot to work with.

It was actually chilly and rainy in Orange County most of the weekend. Jeff and I went to an event Saturday night where I wished I had this coat. Unfortunately it was an all white party so the color wouldn’t have worked. I did learn that wearing sandals in the rain isn’t the best idea… I think my feet are still cold. All in all it was a fun night and really unlike anything we’d been to before. You may have seen me post about it on my IG stories.

I’m excited to get back on schedule this week at home. Traveling with a toddler is a lot of fun but a lot of work… and sleep is always a crap shoot. We are planning on taking it easy this week and really getting back to our normal activities… like gym class. 🙂 I’ll probably be wearing my typical momiform, which is basically this outfit minus the faux fur coat. And it’s supposed to warm up to the 80’s so I might even swap my jeans for shorts. Getting real crazy over here. 🙂

Fall Athleisure

October 11, 2018 by ashadmin No Comments

A cozy athleisure look today. 🙂 I’ve been looking for the perfect pair of high-waisted leggings for a while now. Over the weekend I popped into Forever 21 and found these. I honestly didn’t expect much, or even know how high-waisted they would be, but they ended up coming home with me anyway and they’re perfect!

I wore this the other day for a cozy morning in Big Bear. The weather has been so nice, the little dose of fall we wanted. We’re heading home today – back to our normal 70 something degrees which I really can’t complain about either. I’m excited to get back home to our normal life and routine.

I’ve had this thermal for a few years now. It’s such a good staple and they seem to bring it back every year in different colors. I wore it so much when I was pregnant with Crosby and even picked it up in a few other colors. It continues to be one of my favorite and most comfortable tops for fall and winter that I keep coming back to year after year. The thumb holes in the sleeves were especially welcomed for this cold morning.

I was also excited to finally wear these wool sneakers from All Birds. I got them a few months ago but it was summer and way too hot for wool. I’d heard how comfortable they are and how they mold to your feet so I was excited to break them in. They’re such a great sneaker option for the colder months.

Mommy and Me Matching Sweaters

October 9, 2018 by ashadmin No Comments

We arrived in Big Bear yesterday afternoon and walked right into picture perfect fall weather. It only took driving up the mountains to find it. Naturally Crosby and I took the opportunity to twin in our mommy and me matching sweaters. They actually aren’t a matching set, or even the same brand. I’ve had my sweater for years now but found Crosby’s at H&M a few weeks ago and knew it would match mine. These shoes were another matching coincidence… I bought mine and then realized Crosby had a super similar pair in her closet. Naturally I wanted us to wear our sweaters and shoes for a complete matching look on our first day of vacation.

on me: old sweater (similar), jeans, shoes

on Crosby: bow c/o, similar sweater, similar jeans, shoes

In the summer we were all about matching in coverups and swimsuits and now that it’s cooler I’m on the hunt for more cold weather things to twin in.

  • We wore these matching beanies last year in both pink and cream. I actually packed the cream set for Big Bear, but Crosby is going through a phase where she won’t keep anything on her head. Fingers crossed we can make it work.
  • These cold shoulder matching sweaters are the cutest! As are these with the eyelashes. And these floral printed slouchy sweatshirts.
  • I’ve been seeing this denim jacket set on instagram and am so obsessed. I think Crosby and I definitely need them. (For mom, for baby)

We don’t have any more matching outfits for this week in the mountains but I’m definitely keeping my eyes open for more, I’ll keep you posted. 🙂
