Six Ways to Style a Shacket

December 8, 2020 by ashadmin No Comments

This fall the “shacket” has taken over. Are you familiar with shackets? They’re basically oversized shirt jackets that give off an effortlessly cool vibe. Shirt + Jacket = Shacket. I’ve been on the hunt for a neutral plaid one for awhile now and finally came across this one last week. I purchased it and shared three ways to wear it on instagram, but it sold out so fast. Luckily it’s been re-stocked and is also available in another plaid and solid cream. They’re all so pretty! Today I’m sharing six different ways to style the plaid shacket.

Size note, I’m wearing my normal size and it has a slightly oversized look but the sleeves are fitted. I can still comfortably wear thicker sweatshirts and sweaters under, but if you’re worried about that you an always size up.

3 Ways To Wear White Jeans In The Fall & Winter

November 17, 2020 by ashadmin No Comments

I know there’s rules against it, but I love wearing white jeans all year round. I think that rule is pretty outdated anyway. There’s something so fresh about white – in any season. Today I’m sharing three ways to wear white jeans in the fall and winter.

coatigan, tee, jeans, boots, sunglasses

Before I get into it I have a little tip with buying white skinny jeans – size up! You can get away with tighter skinny jeans in darker washes but white shows everything. I always go up a size and feel the most comfortable. I’m wearing this pair in ankle length (I’m 5’4″). They also come in regular, tall and curvy.

Look 1: Winter Whites

coatigan, tee, jeans, boots, sunglasses

Maybe my favorite way to wear white jeans in the colder months is a winter white look. I kept this monochromatic white and then added my favorite camel colored coatigan to make it feel polished. PS – the coatigan is on sale right now for under $100. You already know how much I love it and wear it.

Look 2: Pulled Together Casual

denim jacket (& similar), sweater tee, jeans, booties

No matter the outfit, I think a slightly oversized denim jacket always adds a cool factor. It’s casual but still feels polished if that makes sense. I went with autumn colors with this rust sweater tee and really comfortable booties.

*Sweater tee is a little itchy but it didn’t bother me.

Look 3: Black and White

sweater, jeans, similar booties

Wearing a black cowl neck sweater for contrast and love how the animal print booties tie the outfit together. My leopard pair is several years old but I found a similar one here – I also love the look of snake print booties. To me, animal print is always a neutral.

Hope you’re having a good week so far. As always, thank you so much for reading and following.

Happy Monday! We’re back to 80 degrees/basically summer weather so I’m looking back to last week when we had a little bit of actual fall. It was fun to get dressed for colder weather and I documented my outfits each day. Breaking them down below.

I can’t believe Thanksgiving is just a couple weeks away! I feel like it always kind of sneaks up on us after Halloween, but this year I’m especially excited for it. Do you dress up for the day or go more casual? I’m all about casual and comfort – basically anything I can wear to chase around two toddlers and eat and drink to my hearts content. Today I wanted to share 8 casual Thanksgiving outfit ideas that you can easily recreate with pieces from your own closet.

Combat Boot Round Up

October 30, 2020 by ashadmin No Comments

It’s officially boot season! One of my favorite boot trends right now are combat boots… or military/army whatever you want to call them. I’ve been really into the combat boot comeback the past few years. When I was in 7th grade I saved up money babysitting to buy my first pair of Dr. Martens boots. I collected a few pairs back then (late 90’s) that I held onto and still wear sometimes! Today I want to share a roundup of combat boots I’m loving at various price points.

I was gifted this beautiful Tamara Mellon pair last year at an event. They’re definitely a splurge but I love all the details on them. They’re so nicely made… heavy duty and keep your feet really warm.

This All Saints pair is slightly more affordable, but still a splurge. They come in a few other colors as well.

Love the detail on this under $200 pair.

A perfect pair of reasonably priced boots. They come in 3 colors and are a great way to try out the trend.

Here’s a classic pair of Dr. Martens. If the past trends have taught me anything, it’s that these boots are pretty timeless.

This year it seems like lighter colored (white, nude, blush) boots are on trend. I recently got this white pair from Everlane.

Also loving this white pair form Sam Edelman and this really pretty nude pair from Vince.

Fall & Winter Outer Wear

October 26, 2020 by ashadmin No Comments

Over the weekend we had our first taste of fall weather this year. It was a nice change from the crazy heat we’ve been experiencing. Naturally that got me thinking ahead to fall and winter fashion… specifically outer wear. Usually at the start of a season I like to take inventory in my wardrobe to see what holes I need to fill. Today I want to talk about my favorite outer wear trends right now.

Mama jacket // babe jacket

Teddy Coat

jacket

I got this cozy teddy jacket two years ago after seeing it on a friend. It’s an amazon find and it’s so good. I have it in a size small and it’s slightly oversized and was comfortable to wear while I was pregnant with Wilder… and under thick sweaters.

jacket

I got this cozy white jacket this year and cannot wait to wear it out of. my house. It’s more of a splurge than the last one but it’s so pretty and it will go with everything.

coat

I put this one in the teddy coat category but it’s a bit different. It’s super soft faux fur in a pretty dusty rose color and has a draped shape. I’ve had it for a few years and have dressed it up and down. It looks really chic with black jeans, a black top and booties or heels.

Moto jacket

jacket

I have a few moto jackets (black and silver), but this year I wanted a brown version. I will wear this with so much – everything from casual looks like above, to LBD’s and over the knee boots. Such a versatile piece.

Blazer

similar blazer

There’s something so fun and fall about a classic plaid blazer. This one is from last year, but here is a super similar option. Perfect for the office (ie. zoom meetings while wearing sweats) or casually with jeans and a tee.

Coatigan

sweater blazer

Maybe the most versatile option I’m sharing is the coatigan. It’s a hybrid sweater jacket that has a beautiful shape. I’ve had this for a few months and already styled it so many ways – with leggings, jeans, shorts, etc. It comes in a few other colors and runs a little big. I know I’ll be living in this all fall/winter.

Shacket

Not pictured but I can’t wait to try out this trend. Another hybrid – shirt + jacket = shacket. I’ve ordered this one that’s super neutral and can be worn with everything. I’m also eying this pretty plaid option, also neutral and perfect for fall.
