Happy Thursday! I’m coming to you today from the couch with a kid who’s home not feeling good so we’re taking it a little slower and watching a little more tv than normal. It’s cold and gloomy outside so at least we’re not missing much. I can’t believe we’re heading into April next week… if only our weather would fully get on board with spring. I’ve been craving all things rainbow and pastel lately and pulled together my recent favorite spring finds.
Now that it’s mid-March I’m ready for the weather to warm up and to wear all my favorite spring things! I love the shift of seasons and the start of spring is always one of my favorites. Lately I’ve been going through my closet, purging what I no longer wear and trying to take note of any gaps to fill. I recently went through my sandals and wanted to share some spring trends I’m loving right now.
Braided details
Braided sandals are huge this season. I purchased this pair a few weeks ago on Forever 21’s website – they’ve since sold out. Target has a really similar pair here. I’m also loving this pair.
Studs
I got this studded strappy pair last spring and have worn them a ton. They’re comfortable and go with everything – sundresses, shorts, jeans, etc. They’re back again this year and I’m also loving this slide version.
Pearls
Along the same line as studs, pearl embellishments are huge right now. I’ve seen so many cute pearl pairs like these, these and these.
Freedom Moses
These are basically rubber birkenstocks and I can’t get enough of them. They’re light weight, water proof and come in SO MANY fun prints. This is the pair I have and I’m linking a bunch here.
Designer inspired slides
I’ve had this style of shoes for the past 4 years and always go back to them. I recently picked up a white pair and wore them quite a bit in the desert a few weeks ago. They’re neutral, comfortable and go with so much. They also come in black and tan.
I know I’m not alone with this thought, but towards the end of every winter (and summer, honestly) I start to get anxious for the next season. Our winter hasn’t been bad – we haven’t had too much rain or really cold weather but I’m definitely ready for spring + summer and everything that comes with warm weather. I’m also starting to shop or look at new arrivals and get excited about dressing for sunny days again. Of course that includes swimwear, so today I wanted to share some of my favorite ways to dress my swimsuits up a little…
I love a layered look with a one piece. This mesh tank is really fun and would also be cute over a bikini. I also think it’s cute when it’s a little colder and you layer a sweater on top and knot it. This one would work perfectly!
One of my favorite bikinis from last summer and it’s back in stock! I love anything crocheted and this sarong is a great price and looks good with every bathing suit!
A romper/playsuit is always an easy and cute coverup. I got this playsuit at the end of last summer and wore it quite a bit. It’s sadly sold out (fingers crossed it gets re-stocked). I found this one that’s pretty similar.
I got this beautiful coverup several years ago and it’s still one of my favorites. It makes everything instantly feel more chic and looks good with both bikinis and one piece suits.
Another favorite from last summer are these Madewell beach pants. They’re gauzy, light weight and comfortable to wear or lounge in. They come in a few other cute colors too!
Wardrobe wise, I have a rotation of brands I know and love but they’ve been feeling a little stale. Lately I’ve been trying to mix up my wardrobe and find some new brands/designers to add to the mix. My newest brand discovery is Heartloom – I received a few pieces over the weekend and was instantly obsessed. Everything is really well made and unique. I wanted to share my favorites.
This tank might be my favorite piece. It also comes in white which I debated getting at first. But I have 239408 white tops and thought I should mix it up. This is a bright coral/pink.
I love the ribbed stripes on this one and the colors are perfect to carry into fall too. It’s a fitted tank and almost looks like a bodysuit when you tuck it in.
These shorts are so fun and unlike anything I had in my closet! I love that they’re shorts but almost look like a skirt.
I’m actually wearing this romper today. Not only is it insanely comfortable but it’s really practical for my every day mom life too. It has pockets and is a great length. The dark green almost photographs black but it’s really pretty, it comes in a lighter greentoo.
Another look from Palm Springs last week. In the evenings we got a little dressed up for fun… and because we weren’t chasing a toddler and carrying a baby around! #parentsgonewild I found this cute black and white daisy print dress at Forever 21 and thought it would be fun to wear with this red bagfor a pop of color.
Pretty much my whole look (aside from my shoes) is from Forever 21. So crazy! I’ve been shopping there for such a long time. I always thought once I was older than 21 I’d stop… but here I am, a mom of two in my 30’s and I’m still shopping there pretty regularly.
I’m always finding cute things at F21 and I usually have better luck shopping online, the stores can be so scattered/overwhelming. On the website you can narrow down what you’re looking for and search that way. For instance, I searched for black mini dresses to find the one I’m wearing in this post. Once you choose your category there are plenty of options to search by.
I’m loving this dress for fall, would be really cute with booties and a denim jacket.
I’m still holding strong onto my summer wardrobe. I feel like it’s really just beginning here so don’t expect me to dip into fall just yet. At least not until I get sick of dressing like this. 🙂 Last week in Palm Springs I wore this new Tularosa romperthat’s on major sale right now. There are usually amazing sales at the end of a season and this is marked down to $35. Such a steal!
I’ve loved wearing rompers as coverups this summer. A few others I love: I wore this one in Palm Springs too (seen here), a great budget friendly option that comes in a lot of colors and can be worn with a top under too, another cute one I love and this one is a cute longer option that would also work into fall.
Also, you can’t really see it but I’m wearing another sunglasses chain here. I bought this pack before our trip and loved wearing them. It’s like another piece of jewelry that actually serves a purpose. I’m hooked.
We stayed at the Parker in Palm Springs, it’s our favorite hotel that we actually got engagedat 5 years ago on the croquet lawn pictured below! Side note, can you believe I’ve had the blog this long? I’ve actually been doing this for over 7 years now. That. Is. Crazy.
But back to The Parker, the grounds are so fun to explore… they have cute little areas all around the property and it almost feels like a secret garden. No matter how many times I go back I’m always getting lost on the pathways but I’m also always finding new hidden gems around the grounds.
