Over the years my hair has taken quite a beating. I used to bleach the crap out of it in high school and college. For some reason I thought since I was a “natural” blonde I needed to be platinum. Ugh. Then came the days of frying my naturally stick straight hair with a hair straightener… I’m still not sure why I thought it needed to be even straighter than it air dries.
It’s the final week of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! If you follow more than one blogger, you’re probably relieved – ha! Seriously, everyone posts about it because it can be a huge money maker. Oops, was I not supposed to say that? But also because there are a lot of great mark downs that go back to regular price once the sale is over.
When I was pregnant my hair never looked better. It was strong, thick and I only needed to wash it about once a week because it didn’t get greasy. It was dream hair. I’d be able to curl it and have it last a whole week! Not to mention it was growing like a weed and it got so long while still being healthy.
Pregnancy has made my hair grow like a weed! I know it’s probably just temporary and everyone says it will start to fall out after I have they baby but I’m hoping to ride this wave for as long as possible. It may be long and healthy but it definitely needed a little TLC, so with the help of my friends over at Sassoon Salon Costa Mesa I was able to bring my blonde back to life.
Managing my hair has been a learning process over several years. I have a lot of fine stick-straight hair that gets extremelytangled when it’s wet. It’s a true test of patience and I always feel bad for my hairstylist after a shampoo. This brush has been my savor since my bestie Shelby introduced me to it. Once it dries it’s more manageable but can still be a little tangled and fall flat if I just let it go.
I feel like I enlist a small army to get it just the way I like. Let’s start from the top…
I was recently introduced to this shampoo after receiving it in a gift bag and it’s a miracle worker. It’s more than I normally spend for shampoo but I plan on buying the full size bottle.
A good conditioner is key for someone who has such tangled hair, this one has been on heavy rotation for years and I love how nourished and silky it makes my hair feel.
Once I’m out of the shower a detangler is essential in order to even get the wet brush through my locks. Once again It’s a 10 products come to my rescue. I’m currently using the blonde miracle leave-in, but I’ve tried them all. I love this one that has Keratin for extra hair health.
Because my hair is straight, I like to let it air dry if I have the time. I try to do as little heat styling as possible in order to keep it healthy.
Once it’s dry I like to add waves, but first I use this to prep and protect. This curling iron is everything. I don’t know what I did before I had it. I wrap my hair around the rod without using the clamp and don’t section it off for a more tousled beachy waves look. I finish with this and sometimes I spray in a little hair spray.
I try to only wash my hair a few times a week so in between I am dependent on dry shampoo. This one is my favorite at the moment.
Once I week I like to deep condition my hair… before I was it I apply this to the ends. I leave it on for a few hours and then shower and wash my hair normally.
Every once in a while I find myself discovering new beauty products that become must haves in my medicine cabinet. In the last few months I’ve had a few new finds that are too good not to share.
KMS California Hair Play Makeover Spray – It’s no secret I hate washing my hair and I try to only do it a few times a week. So when one of my bff’s gave me this for Christmas this year I was immediately obsessed. I’ve been using different dry shampoos for years but this one is a little different. It comes out a bit chalkier but blends much better. I spray it on my hair before it starts to get oily as a precaution to absorb the oils.
Dior Capture Totale One Essential Skin Boosting Super Serum – A makeup artist gave this to me to try a few weeks back and it may have changed my life. I’ve never really used serums… which is really a crime since I’m approaching 30. I apply this one after I wash and moisturize my face and neck. Like I said, I’ve only used it a few weeks but I can already tell a difference in my skin. It’s a little pricey but it’s worth it.
Thicker Fuller Hair – Not only do I hate washing my hair, I also hate styling it. I tell myself it’s because I care about my hair health and don’t want to over expose it to heat, which I do, but I also hate how much time it takes to dry and style. So here’s my solution, after I wash my hair I use my fav “It’s a 10 Miracle Leave In” to comb through my crazy tangled mane, then finish with a couple of drops of this hair serum. My hair is stick straight but this gives it a little boost so it doesn’t feel flat.
Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Toner – After I wash my face, I dab this on it with a cotton ball. It’s crazy what cleansers and even my trusty Clarisonic can leave behind. This leaves y skin feeling it’s cleanest and prepped for moisturizer.
What are you current favs? Let me know, I always love trying new products!
