What to Wear to a Wedding When You’re Pregnant

April 8, 2019 by ashadmin No Comments

Although I didn’t attend any weddings this pregnancy, I’ve gotten quite a few questions about bump-friendly wedding guest dresses and thought it would make a fun post. I’m rounding up my favorites for everything from the casual wedding to black tie along with several bridesmaids options thrown in as well.

Casual:

If you’re going to a daytime wedding I think Pink Blush has some really pretty options. This one being at the top of my list, so pretty for a spring or summer outdoor casual wedding.

This dress comes in so many colors and could easily be dressed up or down.

This dress is SO flattering, it has 5 color options and is under $70.

A really pretty casual maxi. Love the color and think the fit would be perfect with a bump.

Wrap dresses work well with a smaller bump. Love this one that comes in several prints.

Cocktail:

Such a pretty dress for a spring or summer wedding. The pleats would be so flattering with a bump!

Love this dress that comes in 6 colors (obviously avoid the beige).

A pretty pink dress you could really twirl in… on sale for $24!

Loving this lavender dress for spring and summer weddings.

This maxi dress would be pretty for a summer wedding.

Formal:

I typically don’t love printed dresses for formal options, but this red one is sooo pretty. Throw on some strappy heels and you’re good to go!

This dress would be stunning for a formal wedding and it’s under $60!

I love this beaded kimono option and the color is so pretty.

Loving this sage green lace dress.

Bridesmaid (lots of these would also work for formal):

This one is so pretty and would work with various stages of the bump.

Another neutral colored dress if you’re looking for something a little shorter.

I think this one would be really pretty if you’re wanting green.

A super glam option with lots of color options.

A pretty gray option that can be tied multiple ways.

This one is sooo pretty and it also comes in blush.

Loving this high-neck maxi – color is really pretty too!

Such a sweet option – I love the sleeves and ruffles.

Not maternity but I think this one would be really flattering with a bump. I would go up a size.

This one would also be really pretty if you’re looking for a floral print.

Thanks for reading – hope you have a great day!

Pregnancy Update: 36 Weeks

March 20, 2019 by ashadmin No Comments

Well, I’ve officially made it to 36 weeks pregnant which is considered 9 months! I still have about three and a half weeks before my official due date and I’m not so secretly hoping he stays in as long as possible. Just not too much over, ok? It’s been awhile since I gave a pregnancy update… and with the days dwindling by, I figured it’s time!

First of all, it is absolutely wild seeing your body transform, basically overnight. Even though I’ve been through this before, I’m still amazed at what our bodies are capable of. I’ve been taking bump shots and put them all together below. So crazy!

The big reason I’m not hoping for him to make an appearance yet is that I just don’t feel ready at all! I know no one really ever feels ready, but I think I felt more prepared before I gave birth to Crosby. We’ve made a lot of progress on his nursery but it’s still not complete. We’re waiting on a backordered rug, mattress, and changing pad, and still need new curtains for the room. He won’t even be sleeping in his nursery for a few months but I want it to be ready before. There’s no way I’ll have the energy to finish it once he’s here.

I started packing my hospital bag last week and I’d say it’s about 75% packed. I’m planning to do a post on what I packed for the hospital and will share that during my mini “maternity leave.” That’s another thing I prepped for last time! I wrote out several weeks worth of blog posts so that I could have some down time. I really need to step it up!

Overall, I’ve been feeling fine but I am a little uncomfortable at this point. My belly is so big it feels like I’m carrying a 10 pound bowling ball around all day. By the night time, I’m exhausted but can’t get comfortable to sleep. And then, when I do fall asleep, I wake up pretty often to go to the bathroom. It totally sounds like I’m complaining a lot, but I am super grateful to have a healthy pregnancy.

Another crazy thing are the Braxton Hicks contractions. I think I had them a little with Crosby but really didn’t know what they were. I swear the second time around you feel everything stronger and more frequently. I get them pretty often at night and off and on throughout the day. They usually come on more when I’ve been active with Crosby (picking her up a lot, after ballet and gym class, etc).

That’s basically it for an update! As always, thank you for reading and following.

Overalls for Pregnancy and Beyond

February 26, 2019 by ashadmin No Comments

We did it! We moved Crosby into her new bedroom over the weekend… so far, so good… or about as good as can be expected while she’s teething and going through a sleep regression. No one is getting a full night’s rest around here these days. Now that we have less than seven weeks until baby boy is due, it’s crunch time to get the nursery ready. I wore this outfit on Sunday when we officially made the room switch, snapped a mirror selfie and got so many questions about where my overalls and other pieces were from, I knew I had to shoot it for a blog post.

Lots of questions regarding if these were maternity overalls. They are! I got them from Pink Blush about a month ago, but they’ve since sold out in most sizes. Sad! They seem to re-stock pretty often, so definitely keep an eye out if you’re interested. Size note, I’m wearing a small and they fit perfectly. I did find a few similar maternity pairs here and here and non-maternity here and here.

I also want to mention that Shopbop is having one of their amazing sales where the more you spend, the more you save. I’ve had my eye on these these slides for awhile now. I think they’re so cute for spring and summer. I always use these sales to shop my favorite brands – Free People, BB Dakota, Levi’s, Agolde, Peixoto, PilyQ.

Pregnancy Fashion Struggles

February 13, 2019 by ashadmin No Comments

Over the weekend I was feeling so blah and uninspired with the current rotation of things that fit me. A total wardrobe rut. I decided to shop my closet, if you will, and put together this look with pieces that are all a couple of years old. Sometimes I think I have these pregnancy wardrobe delusions where I put something on thinking it will still fit the way it did a few months/weeks/days ago and then get frustrated when that’s not the case. So I went back to some old faithfuls that worked my first pregnancy and was happy and comfortable all day.

sunglasses, old coat (similar here, here and here), similar tank, similar maternity jeans, similar vans

I also took it as a sign to order a few new things that will make getting dressed a little easier and give me something to look forward to. Bonus when I know they’ll work post-pregnancy too. I got this Free People thermal in the pretty sky blue. I have it in a couple of colors and wear it all the time. It’s so comfortable and looks great with or without a bump. I also ordered this v-neck that’s slightly oversized in gray and this cute balloon sleeve thermal in black.

And then yesterday I got an email from a maternity line I’d never heard of and was immediately inspired. Legoe is an Australian brandand as far as I’m concerned they can do no wrong when it comes to fashion. A lot of times maternity clothes are frumpy and nothing I want to wear but these are all so cute and flattering. I literally want every single piece.

Side note, my coat is one of my favorites but it’s 4 years old and has long since sold out. I had a real hard time finding some similar options for it.

Pregnacy Fashion Secret Weapon

February 6, 2019 by ashadmin No Comments

Once you get to a certain point, a really hard part of pregnancy is getting dressed. I’m not the biggest fan of maternity clothes and try my hardest to wear my pre-pregnancy stuff as much as possible. Of course some things are no longer an option, like my fav high-waisted Levis with tops tucked in. But I did have a few pairs of jeans that were still (somehow) fitting… until recently. After the first of the year nothing was comfortable anymore. Enter the Bellaband. Now I can wear my favorite stretchy jeans un-zipped and un-buttoned and NO ONE has to know.

top, jeans, bellaband c/o

The Bellaband looks kind of like a bandeau bra. It goes over your pants and as high up as you want… you can fold it down to your liking. The top has a little grip, kind of like no-show socks. It smooths out the bumps where your jeans are open so no one can tell.

It comes in a few color options so it will blend in with whatever you’re wearing. I’ve been loving the black and nude the most so far.

This is totally a personal preference, but I like to wear them with shirts that are long enough to cover the bump. You can wear them so they show under a top if you want – they look like a cami so it’s no big deal.

Here are a few tops that have been working for me lately…

I got this tee last week and have already worn it at least 4 times. It’s perfectly oversized (I’m wearing a size small and it covers the bump) and only $15. I think I need at least 4 more.

This thermal button up top has been a crowd favorite for over a year. I went up a size for pregnancy and it’s working well. Bonus is that it will work great for nursing too.

I’ve heard great things about this henley and am really temped to add it to my closet. Planning to go up a size to make sure it’s long enough!

$15 Dress For Spring

February 4, 2019 by ashadmin No Comments

Happy Monday! We had rain allll weekend and it’s supposed to continue into the week. So today I’m sharing a sunnier look from a much warmer and dryer day. I’m convinced this is the $15 dress everyone needs for spring – pregnant or not. It’s not maternity and so flattering, either way. When it gets warm I’m always reaching for easy pieces like this that are comfortable and can be worn multiple ways.

sunglasses, dress, sweater c/o, similar shoes, similar purse

I got this wrap sweater last spring and am still obsessed with it. It’s light weight and the softest thermal material. I get so much wear out of it – around my house AND out. It’s really going to come in handy after I have the baby and want to be as comfortable as possible while hanging out at home.

On another note can I say how happy I am that it’s February? January felt four months long to me so I’m relieved it’s finally over. There were no real reasons to it, it just really seemed to drag. I know I’m not alone in thinking that because I saw so many funny memes on social media about it.

I love February because stores really start bringing out their spring collections. I’ve already started looking and wanted to share a few things I’m loving for spring. This top is so pretty and it comes in a few different colors. I can’t wait to wear my favorite high-waisted jeans with cropped tops like this one again. I love a good coverup that can be worn different ways like this one. I’ve been eying this skirt and think I can make it work but with the bump and without. It’s under $30. I’m absolutely loving this maxi dress. Both color ways are gorgeous.

Hope you had a great weekend – thanks for reading and following!
