Happy Thursday! I’m coming to you today from the couch with a kid who’s home not feeling good so we’re taking it a little slower and watching a little more tv than normal. It’s cold and gloomy outside so at least we’re not missing much. I can’t believe we’re heading into April next week… if only our weather would fully get on board with spring. I’ve been craving all things rainbow and pastel lately and pulled together my recent favorite spring finds.
Now that it’s mid-March I’m ready for the weather to warm up and to wear all my favorite spring things! I love the shift of seasons and the start of spring is always one of my favorites. Lately I’ve been going through my closet, purging what I no longer wear and trying to take note of any gaps to fill. I recently went through my sandals and wanted to share some spring trends I’m loving right now.
I got this studded strappy pair last spring and have worn them a ton. They’re comfortable and go with everything – sundresses, shorts, jeans, etc. They’re back again this year and I’m also loving this slide version.
Designer inspired slides
I’ve had this style of shoes for the past 4 years and always go back to them. I recently picked up a white pair and wore them quite a bit in the desert a few weeks ago. They’re neutral, comfortable and go with so much. They also come in black and tan.
Happy February! We made it through January, which arguably always feels like the longest month of the year. I don’t know about you, but I am so ready for warmer weather. I know I live in Southern California and can’t really complain too much about a frigid winter, but spring sounds really nice right now. Keeping two toddlers inside when it’s rainy/cold/windy is not an easy job. My hat goes off to everyone who has to do it in colder climates. Anyway, today I’m sharing February’s wardrobe staples.
I picked out 4 pieces this month that make the perfect neutral outfit. Can you tell I’m really into beige right now? I’ve had these jeans for several months now and continue to wear them regularly. I love that they come in regular and ankle lengths. I have went with the ankle and still cut them to be a little shorter. Plus I love a raw hemline.
I purchased this pullover on sale several weeks ago and could not love it more. I have it in cream, but it comes in tons of other colors too. It’s on sale here and the cream color is fully stocked in all sizes. If you’re after more colors, it’s available on the Free People site as well – it’s just not on sale. I went with my normal size – it’s a little roomy and loose but not long if that makes sense.
You know I’m all about shackets right now… ie shirt + jacket. When I spotted this beige one I added it to my cart so fast. It will literally go with everything. It has a comfy oversized fit (I stuck to my normal size) and it’s not a thick or bulky jacket – perfect to transition to spring.
These slides are another new addition in my current favorite color. I wear my slippers so much inside I was looking for a similar pair I could wear out and about, once it gets warmer of course. These are a great price but run a little small. They’re only available in whole sizes so I went up half a size and they fit perfectly.
We just got back from a long weekend in Napa Valley. It was our first weekend away since Crosby was born… crazy, right?! We went up for a friend’s wedding and made a long weekend out of it. We arrived Thursday morning and I changed out of my travel clothes into this cute white tassel romper.
I love an easy outfit like this and it was really perfect for our day. We started out with lunch and then went to a few wineries before we checked into our hotel and got ready for the first weekend wedding festivity. It was really hot and humid up there, but I was perfectly comfortable in this light-weight romper.
Now that it’s practically August it’s getting towards the end of summer. Although it will still be hot here until November, I know it’s not necessarily like that in other parts of the country. Sometimes dressing for the end of the season is hard. You really don’t want to buy anything new, but you’re sick of all your clothes. Or is that just me? Regardless, I still try to switch it up and do so by buying a few things late in the season. The trick is to find things that you can wear again next year.
Although this romper is a bit trendy with the tassels and cutouts, I know I’ll wear it again because it’s a good summer staple. I feel that way about a lot of rompers in my closet, as I reach for them year after year once it gets warm.
As I get older I realize how much I thrive on a schedule and I’m really looking forward to getting back on track this week. Hope you have a great one!
In the summer I always seem to gravitate towards white pieces. White tops, jeans but especially dresses. I was instantly drawn to this white tiered mini dress by Wayf because it’s so unique. I love the tiered layers and pink, yellow and blue rick rack trim.
I got this dress in the mail awhile back, probably over a month ago, and tucked it away knowing I’d wear it for something soon. May/June is full of celebrations for us. It starts with Mother’s Day, then Jeff’s Birthday at the end of the month, our anniversary in June, Father’s Day, my dad’s Birthday, my Birthday and even a few other family celebrations mixed in. It’s very busy! So I knew I’d have a chance to wear this fun dress.
Last week was our third wedding anniversary. It seriously crept up this year! Jeff and I made plans to go out and celebrate and I was so excited to finally get to wear this white dress. I brought along my favorite denim jacket but didn’t end up needing it because the weather was so warm and perfect. Not typical for June in Southern California but I’ll take it!
White dresses are always a must for summer. I wanted to share a few I’m loving in case you’re as into them as I am. I really love this cute crochet one, this other tiered sundress and this pretty white midi dress that’s under $50.
Now that we’re heading into the official start of summer most of our celebrations are over aside from my Birthday. July is looking really busy for us with travel and I’m starting to shop for pieces I can bring along everywhere from Palm Springs to Napa.
Hope you have a great start to your week – can you believe it’s the last week of spring?!
