I think this dress is the solution to my late summer wardrobe blues. I’ve been so sick of everything in my closet, but not wanting to get new summer things or jump right into fall. Luckily this dress entered my life as the perfect transition piece. I styled it a little more fall here with my favorite booties and felt hat but I know I’ll be wearing it in a summer-y way too.

It’s crazy to think I’m already thinking about fall fashion, but I am! This time of year always seems like a fresh start. Probably because of all my years of back-to-school shopping – picking out new favorites to wear in the new school year. Now that I’ve been out of school for a long while, I still find myself wanting to get a head start on new things for fall and have been thinking ahead to fall staples. Everything is pretty versatile and can be worn all year round… in California, at least. But really they’re all practical pieces to take you into the new season whether you’re a student, a mom or a 9-5er.

I think the theme for the week is going to be transition dresses. Ha! I have a couple of them to share that I absolutely love.

I have a closet full of dresses and don’t normally play favorites, but if I did this one would be a serious contender. It’s the perfect late summer dress, super on budget and is giving me Moroccan vibes. Is it over-played to say vibes? Jeff thinks so but I still use it. I digress…

Summer has always been my favorite season. But now that it’s mid-August it seems like it’s kind of coming to an end. Without fail, about this time every season I start getting tired of my current wardrobe. And feel like I wear the same combo of clothes over and over again. In southern California we don’t really get a “fall.” If we’re lucky by the middle of November it finally starts to cool off, but this makes me never want to buy real fall pieces. To combat this I’ve started looking at dresses I can wear now that will still transition into the fall season.

I always think of August as a transitional month as it’s the last full month of summer. But now instead of back-to-school shopping, I’m pulling out early fall pieces for the next month or so. This denim jacket is something that never really leaves my closet, no matter what season. Even though it’s still warm here I usually bring it with me because I’m always cold.
