Another day, another bikini. 🙂 We’re currently in the midst of a heatwave so it only seems apropiate to keep riding this wave. Over the past couple of seasons I’ve started getting into high-waisted bikinis. I got this one at an event a couple of months ago and tucked it away for our Palm Springs trip. The bright floral print is so fun, it’s from Show Me Your Mumu’s Barbie collection – which I couldn’t love more.

Another great thing about a high-waisted bikni is it sucks you in in all the right places. I especially love the belt on this one that you can adjust to however tight you’d like it. The top is really cute too with it’s off-the-shoulder ruffle. I even wore it with a pair of denim shorts as a crop top one night. I love anything that can be worn multiple ways.

You’re probably aware the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is starting tomorrow for card holders. If you’re active on Instagram you will be inundated with coverage for the next several weeks. It’s a great sale to stock up on basics or items that aren’t normally discounted. However, it’s really easy to get burnt out on because everyone seems to post about it non-stop.

I promise to keep my coverage moderate – and I’d like to mostly share items that can be worn now…. I don’t know about you but the last thing I’m thinking of when it’s 100 degrees are fall sweaters and boots.

Happy Monday! I just wanted to share a quick post with a few of my favorite sunglasses for summer. Who am I kidding – they’re year round wear but I think these five pairs are especially fun for summer. 🙂

1. Ray-Ban Aviators – These are a great everyday pair. I went with black for this frame, but they come in all the classic Ray-Ban shades as well.
2. White heart shaped sunnies – I bought these for a shoot a few months back and can’t stop wearing them. I’d been loving the white sunglasses trend but knew I didn’t want to invest. These are only $10!
3. Ray-Ban Hexagonal Flat Lens– My mother’s day gift that I can’t stop wearing. I love the classic shape and color of these, they seriously go with everything!
4. Rose gold aviators – these are from last summer and are no longer available but I found a few similar pairs (for a steal). These are only $14 and come in 5 other colors too and these are another great option for the same steal.
5. Karen Walker Super Dupers – I splurged on this pair several years ago and they’ve been worth it. The frame is a bit heavy, so I don’t wear them for too long, but they’ve held up so well through the years.

Now that we’re in July it really feels like summer is in full swing around here. I recently got a bunch of new swimsuits and am so excited to live in them all season long. This turquoise cover up is so cute over it’s matching turquoise bikini. I felt slightly 60’s fab in this sheer lace tunic which was perfect for our location.

We just got back from a long weekend in Palm Springs with friends and Crosby. Palm Springs is one of my favorite places, it’s a short two hour drive from us but you always feel like you’re much further away. Or maybe in a completely different time period all together. Everything is bright and white and colorful, so naturally makes the best backdrops for photos. Let me apologize in advance for the Palm Springs content I’ll be sharing over the next few weeks. It was just too perfect!

In other news, I can’t believe the 4th of July is tomorrow. And on a Wednesday! It really makes the week seem chopped up and weird. Is that good or bad? I wish these holidays were always a long weekend since not everyone gets those days off… Jeff included. So we’re probably going to stay local and do something low key this year.

A t-shirt and cutoffs, such an original outfit right? But this is another 4th of July outfit idea and something I would totally wear for the holiday. I’m all about comfort for summer and seriously have been living in these cutoffs (you’re probably so over them at this point). I found this tee last time I was at the mall and knew it would be great for the 4th and just summer in general.

I know it’s just Thursday but I’m already on weekend mode. #checkedout We are heading out to Palm Springs with friends for the weekend tomorrow and I’m looking forward to floating in the pool in the desert heat. It’s also Crosby’s first time in Palm Springs in the summer… so that will be fun.

I bought her a couple pairs of these flip flops and she’s still a little unsure of them. It’s so cute watching her try to walk in flip flops. I think she’ll like playing in the pool and napping in the AC as much as possible. Crossing my fingers that she sleeps well, so far she’s been great on trips but you really never know. We’re also holding on to two naps still. I would like to keep that up as long as possible!

I’m packing a bunch of colorful swimsuits, coverups and the cutest rainbow floating daybed. I found a little rainbow float for Crosby that matches as well as a rainbow floating bar… all essentials for a desert trip.

I blinked and it’s the end of June. Fourth of July is only one week from today. Wasn’t it just February like a minute ago?! In the sprit of the season I wanted to share some 4th of July outfit inspiration… with a few looks for the littles too! 4th of July has always been my favorite holiday, probably because it’s close to my Birthday and it’s in summer, my favorite season!

Typically my plans for the day require a few outfits: something for a colder morning (this sweater would be perfect), a swimsuit for the afternoon when the gloom burns off and then I need something different for the night, obviously.

Last year we were out of town and they didn’t even have fireworks where we were staying. Naturally we decided it’s a requirement to see them each year moving forward. This year I think we’re going to stay local and do something with friends either poolside or at the beach. I’m eying this swimsuit for the day and this maxi dress for when the sun goes down.

I realize not everyone lives in the same climate or has the same plans, so I wanted to give a variety of looks here while still remaining true to the summer season.

It might seem odd, but a sweater is always a summer staple for me. I got this one from Loft recently and know it’s going to be on repeat all summer long – and even well into fall. It has the cutest bar back and slightly open knit, making it the perfect sweater for an extra summer layer.

I wear sweaters all year round but have them broken up into categories in my closet. Sweaters like this one with it’s three-quarter length sleeves, bar back and wider knit are perfect for warmer months.

I wore it over the weekend to run errands on a particularly June-gloomy day. I just couldn’t bring myself to wear jeans AGAIN (it’s been a week of gloom over here). So I threw on some comfy cutoffs and sweater and was set for the day.

I had just gotten Crosby this romper and she was dying to wear it. Or maybe I was dying for her to wear it? Either way I knew she had to do it so we made it work with her denim jacket. You can’t see the back but I had someone stencil her name on it. It’s super cute and goes with everything! What girl doesn’t need a denim jacket?!

You can’t tell in these photos… or maybe you can in some, but she is hard core teething. She’s been somewhat of a late-bloomer with teeth, but over the last month a couple more have started to break through. She now has 5. This weekend she was a lot sleepier, a bit clingier (which I won’t complain about) and had a bit of a fever. Poor girl. Hoping she feels better this week since we’re off to Palm Springs this weekend.
