February Top 5

March 4, 2021 by ashadmin No Comments

We’ve almost made it to my favorite season, spring! I don’t know about you but I’d be good with about two weeks of winter a year. Luckily we don’t have severe or long winters but by March I’m always ready for sunshine and warm weather. Here are my top five sellers from February.

1. Faux Fur Slides – I purchased these last month and included them in my February staples. I loved them because they reminded me of my favorite slippers I wear around the house but they have a rubber sole and can be worn outside. I’m actually surprised with how much I’ve worn them so far. I love that they keep your feet a little warmer than most sandals. They’re super cute, under $30 and come in a few other colors.

2. U-neck Tank – I think there’s only been one of two months this tank hasn’t been a top seller since last May! That’s how you know it’s good. I have it in all three colors and wear them all year long. They’re a great length, tuck in easily and are perfect to layer when it’s colder.

3. Tan Shacket – Another February staple and currently my most reached for jacket. Love how neutral it is and the price point is great too. It’s selling out fast but I also love the blush version. I went with my true size, but if you don’t want it to be oversized I’d size down.

4. Egg Chair – After lusting after this chair for over two years I finally pulled the trigger and I’m so happy about it. We haven’t gotten to use it too much yet since it’s still winter, but I know it will be even better when it’s warm. I purchased this cover for it and currently keep it covered unless we’re sitting in it. In the summer I’ll leave it uncovered.

5. Vegan Leather Puffer – I snagged this jacket on sale at the end of January to get me through winter. It’s really warm and comfy and I love that it’s slightly cropped – not short but not oversized. I’ll continue to wear it when it’s cold.

9 Favorite Basic Tops

March 1, 2021 by ashadmin 2 Comments

Over the last year I’ve really gotten into basic tops. The combination of not going many places and favoring comfort/practicality has lead me to take a deep dive and try out several basic tops. Everything from tanks to long sleeves and I’ve found nine that I consider wardrobe staples and wear all. the. time. Seriously – people are probably sick of me talking about them and wearing them but when I find things I love I want to share them. I’m breaking them all down below in my basic top guide.

  1. J. Crew slub twist-front tank

I first purchased this in a cute leopard print at the end of last spring. It’s a great tank with a thicker strap and high neck. The twist-front detail makes it a little more interesting. It’s no longer available in leopard but I also have it in white and wear it all the time. It comes in coral, gray, light blue and navy as well. It can be worn for workouts or with jeans. Comfortable, casual and not cropped. It’s currently on sale for $16.50.

2. Topshop u-neck tank

If you forced me to pick a favorite tank, this would be it. It’s light-weight, comfortable and can be worn with just about everything. It comes in white, gray and black and I have it in all three colors and wear it at least once a week. It’s European sizes so I go up one and it has a perfectly relaxed fit.

3. Target A New Day tank

This little $8 is another staple I have in several colors. It’s ribbed with a high neck and the most flattering cut in straps. Easy to wear on it’s own or layer. It comes in so many colors and they add new ones every season. It runs a little small (and has a tight fit) so I go up one size.

4. Free People sweater tank

This knit tank is so effortless. It runs a little big and has a somewhat slouchy fit so I like to layer bralettes or basic camis under so it’s not too low cut, but it fits everyone differently. It comes in 8 colors and they seem to add more from time to time. I also love to wear it knotted over a one piece swimsuit.

5. Abercrombie knotted crew tee

This is a classic t-shirt with a twist (the knotting in the front), but you always un-knot it. It comes in seven colors/prints. I’ve found it to run a little small so I would size up. It’s a great price point at under $20.

6. Free People cropped baby bamboo tee

I first purchased this shirt in black at the beginning of last year’s stay at home order to wear for walks with leggings and bike shorts. I loved it so much I got in a another color too. It is a true cropped tee – I wear it with high-rise pants and you don’t see skin. It’s $20 and comes in a bunch of colors.

7. Free People Cadence long sleeve top

This is more of an active wear piece as it’s part of the Free People Movement line but I wear it as a noral top. It’s cropped in the front and longer in the back so I like it with high waisted pants. It’s super light weight and the white is a little sheer but it comes in a few other colors too.

8. Abercrombie long sleeve seamless ribbed top

I purchased this top last month and it quickly became a new favorite. I got it in white and have worn it weekly since. It’s stretchy, really soft and flattering. Because it’s tight I went up a size so it would be more comfortable. It’s slightly cropped and looks great with high waisted jeans. Also comes in black and moss green.

9. Free People Betty long sleeve tee

This long sleeve top is really light weight with a lower neckline, but it’s really versatile. I have it in white and wear it often. Because it’s light weight it’s easy to layer and looks great under all my jackets. It runs big, I would size down if possible.

5 Ways to Wear – Tan Shacket

February 5, 2021 by ashadmin No Comments

This week I’m highlighting the tan shacket in my staple series and I’m styling it five ways. Well, technically six if you count the pic above from when I first tried it on. This is such a versatile piece that I know I will continue to wear so many different ways. It’s not super heavy duty and more of a layer than an actual jacket, but it works for Southern California winter and could be made warmer with a thicker sweater worn under. Sizing note, it has a comfy oversized fit. If you want it to be more fitted I would suggest sizing down. I went with my normal size and it is definitely on the bigger side, but it’s super comfy to layer.

October Top 5

November 2, 2020 by ashadmin 1 Comment

Just as I expected, October flew by as fast as the last few months. Now we’re in the homestretch of 2020 #thankgod. October’s top five sellers had a lot of popular items from this year. From masks to toddler shoes! Sharing a round up below.

4 pack of adjustable masks – I purchased these a few months ago loving the prints/colors. And since they’re adjustable Jeff can wear them too. They’re my most comfortable mask by far and reach for them the most. Since I love them so much I purchased this set too. There are a bunch of prints/colors here.

Agolde Jamie jeans – I’ve had these for over a year and wear them all the time. Occasionally they go on sale at one of the retailers that carry them and that’s truly the time to buy. They’re super flattering and seem to go with everything.

J. Crew collarless sweater blazer – No surprise that this coatigan makes the list again. I have it in the two colors pictured above and wear it often. It looks great with everything – shorts, leggings, jeans and even shorter dresses.

Topshop u-neck tank – I have a feeling this little $15 tank is going to be my top seller of all of 2020. It’s made the list almost every month since May and I continue to wear it at least a couple times a week.

Toddler leopard converse – I purchased these for Crosby last fall and she was so upset a few weeks ago when they were finally too small. I ordered them in the next size up. They go with so much and are really easy to get on her feet… unlike most converse.

Hope you had an amazing October and Halloween – PLEASE vote tomorrow if you haven’t already!

August Top 5

September 3, 2020 by ashadmin No Comments

Hello September! I read a funny meme the other day that said, “I can’t believe it’s already September. Wasn’t it just March 15 years ago?” Pretty much sums up 2020 so far. Somehow the months are speeding by but the days can feel so long. Today I’m sharing my top 5 best sellers from August.

U-Neck Tank – for the 4th month in a row this is my top seller. I don’t even need to say anything more about it at this point. It sells out often but they seem to keep re-stocking it. I picked up a few back ups last month so I don’t have to worry about wearing them out… I still wear them several times a week.

Barefoot Dreams Blanket – I picked this up in the Nordstrom Anniversary sale and love the neutral colors and subtle design. It’s no longer on sale, but here are some similar options; here, here and here.

Sunglasses Case – I got this case at the end of last year thinking it would be great for travel in 2020. HA! Although I haven’t really used it that way I will say it’s still a great way to store 5 pairs of sunglasses. It rolls up to a pretty compact size if you are wanting it for travel.

4 Pack of Cotton Adjustable Masks – this has got to be the most 2020 item to make my monthly best sellers. I got these early last month and they quickly became my favorite masks. They’re breathable, adjustable, and all around comfortable. Jeff wears them too!

Toddler Leopard Sneakers – I got these for Crosby last fall but they were recently re-stocked (also available for little kids). They’re super comfortable and go with so much. Luckily they still fit her and she’ll be wearing them all fall!

Hope you’re having a great week – thank you so much for reading and following!

July Top 5

August 2, 2020 by ashadmin No Comments

It’s crazy unbelievable that it’s already the beginning of August. Although we’ve spent the majority of the last 4 months at home, they’ve still gone by at lightening speed. I know the rest of the year will follow suit. Today I’m sharing my top 5 sellers from the month of July.

As usual, they’re mostly women’s clothing items with a couple of my favorite home decor finds too.

  1. U-neck tank – For the third month in a row this tank is my best seller. You’ve heard me rave about it several times, but it really lives up to the hype. I ordered another white one to have as a spare. It sells out a lot but the re-stock it pretty often.
  2.  High-rise mom shorts – I purchased these shorts in white at the beginning of last month. It was the first time I’d bought anything from Abercrombie in probably 15 years, but I’ve been really impressed. They fit pretty TTS and are really comfortable and flattering.
  3. Round jute rug – We got this round rug to go under our lounge chairs on the patio a couple of months ago. It’s great for outdoors, but would work inside as well. I think it would be really cute in a breakfast nook/kitchen.
  4. Tie-front bodysuit – Another Abercrombie purchase that I’ve been impressed with. I wore this bodysuit on 4th of July to walk around the neighborhood. It comes in a few other colors/prints too.
  5. Outdoor loveseat – I’ve shared lots of photos of our outdoor space over the past few months mainly because we’ve spent so much time out here. Several years ago Jeff custom built our outdoor living room furniture but have found a few similar options to share. This love seat was one of them.

Hope you’re having a great weekend – thank you so much for reading and following!
