Palm Springs Travel Style

It’s no secret The Parker Palm Springs is one of my favorite weekend getaway spots. Jeff and I try to go a few times a year. I consider myself somewhat of a seasoned veteran of what to pack for a desert getaway. One thing I always like to do is arrive with a swimsuit under my clothes. That way if the room isn’t ready I don’t have to worry about rummaging through my suitcase for one and changing in a bathroom stall. I thought I’d share two easy-peasy travel looks that can take you from the car to the pool without worry.

Wednesday Wants: NSale

The Final Push

The sale of the season at Nordstrom is wrapping up, prices go back up this Sunday, August 2nd. It’s the perfect time to pull the trigger on what you’ve been eying the last few weeks. There are so many great buys that you don’t have to wait for fall to wear! I’m sharing my favorite, year-round (ish) finds. Let me know what you’re lusting after!

Thank you so much for stopping by – hope you enjoy your Wednesday!

Blue & White Maxi Dress

I’m not really a maxi dress person. I realize how lame that sounds next to pictures of me wearing one, but they’re really tricky on my body! I’m not that tall and can get a little lost in clothing where too much fabric is involved. I’ve always been envious of my taller friends who can wear the trend without worry. However, once in awhile I try on one that works… like this blue and white number.

This is the perfect dress for the dog days of summer when you want to wear as little as possible and still look pulled together. It’s super light weight and breezy… as you can see by the way the wind carried it in these photos.

Riviera Maya and Tulum Mexico

Last month we were lucky enough to go on a nine-day honeymoon in Mexico. I’ve posted plenty of pictures of what I wore while we were there and thought it was time to share some recommendations of where to stay if you’re planning a similar trip.

We spent our first five days in Riviera Maya, which is about 45 minutes south of Cancun and 15 minutes north of Playa del Carmen. We didn’t really know much about the area… Jeff had been to Cancun years ago and I’d been to Cozumel and Tulum on a cruise, but aside from that we were going in blind. We ended up finding our Resort, The Blue Diamond, on Jetsetter and were so impressed!

The Blue Diamond is an all-inclusive boutique resort and we didn’t leave the full five days we were there. I’d never actually stayed at an all-inclusive before but I envisioned buffets, mediocre food and watered down cocktails. It was nothing like that! The resort has three restaurants that serve the best food. I think we gained a pound a day while we were there.

Our villa was so spacious. We overlooked one of the cenotes where alligators swam! We had a private plunge pool off our bathroom and a good size walk-in closet. These are the details I’m all about during a resort stay.

I am a huge green juice lover and had it every day of the honeymoon. Another one of my favorite parts were the bikes at the resort. Each guest got a bike for their stay and, aside from a fall on my first ride, I loved zipping around the jungle grounds so quickly.

Like I mentioned I’d been to Tulum years ago on a stop on a cruise with my family. We went on an excursion to the ruins but didn’t see much of the town. It seems like everyone and their mother has been raving about Tulum for the last few years, which is what drew me and Jeff there.

Like in Riviera Maya we stayed at a boutique resort, The Jashita in Soliman Bay, which is about 15 minutes north of the popular beach area of Tulum. This was the best decision! It is such a quant resort, unlike anywhere I’ve been before. It’s owned by Italians and has a European vibe. I almost felt like we were in Greece. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a honeymoon suite with a private plunge pool, hammocks and roof top deck. It was absolutely heaven.

Here are some places I’d recommend inTulum:

  • Taqueria La Eufemia. Best tacos we’ve ever had, right on the sand.
  • Mixik store. Could not leave Tulum without some momentos to remember the trip by. We found the best locally made goods here.
  • Sahara Cafe. This was the Italian restuarant in our hotel. So fresh and delicious.
  • Hartwood. We didn’t get to try this restaurant because it was closed for renovations, however we’ve heard nothing but good things from several different people and will go on our next trip.
  • Be Tulum. Gorgeous resort in the beach area.
  • Coqui Coqui hotel. Right on the beach in Tulum with a perfumery. Read more about the hotel here.

Everyone should visit! The area is really chill and fun to explore. The best part is slowing down and relaxing! The only bad thing is we are missing it so badly we’re already planning our next tropical vacation. Would love to hear about any spots I may have missed for my next visit!

Pink at The Parker

off the shoulder pink dress

This past weekend I convinced Jeff to take me to our favorite hotel, The Parker, out in Palm Springs. We love Palm Springs, but there’s something so magical about The Parker and when you’re there you can’t help but feel like you’re in a secret garden on someone’s estate. It’s also special because it’s where Jeff proposed last August, exactly where these photos were taken.

I’ve been loving the off the shoulder trend this summer with tops and dresses. The watermelon color on this one caught my eye immediately. I knew I had to pair it with my flamingo rehearsal dinner shoes and added the citron bag for a fun pop.

Nordstrom Sale Beauty Favs

It seems like every where you look online someone is raving about the Nordstrom anniversary sale, so I’m sure by now you’ve at least window shopped it. To me the best deals of the sale are in the beauty department… and that’s great because it’s not something you have to wait a few months to wear. Unlike those over-the-knee boots or faux fur vest you’re eying.

The great thing about the beauty deals is lots of things are bundled together giving you waaaay more bang for your buck. This lash serum is discounted by almost $100! My favorite item is still this trio of candles. I like to buy the 3-pack and tuck some away as emergency gifts. Make sure to peep these products in case there’s something you’re low on slash can’t live without.
