It’s Still Swimsuit Season

I think the best time to buy swimwear is at the end of the summer while the sales are going on and you’re not feeling pressure to find the perfect bikini. I’ve found so many great suits this time of year. This one from WET Swimwear was sent to me, but I love it so much I’d buy it if it wasn’t. While we were in Palm Springs last we snapped these shots by the pool at The Parker, I love how the vintage umbrellas correspond with my swimsuit.

Red Carpet Survival Kit

Apologies for my lack of posting this past week… my schedule has been jam-packed and I haven’t really stopped. Yesterday was the VMA’s and today is the Emmy’s so as you can imagine that has kept me very busy. I decided to share my awards season survival kit with you today. As a stylist there are certain things I need on the red carpet like a fun LBD (you want to blend in but not be boring), comfortable heels and of course sunscreen.

Wedding Wednesday: Bridesmaid Dresses

Ok, I swear I’m not crazy and already picking out my Bridesmaid’s dresses, but it doesn’t hurt to look around, right? These days there are so many options for bridesmaids from the same dress in different colors, to the same color and different dresses. At the end you just want to find something your friends will love and hopefully will want to wear again… if that’s even possible. I’m really loving the collections from BHLDN and J. Crew, here are my first (I’m sure of many) round of favorites.

Palm Springs Style

When Jeff booked our “last minute trip” to Palm Springs this maxi dress was the first thing I packed. I’ve mentioned before that I have a hard time with long dresses, but this one was the perfect balance of length without swallowing me. I loved the criss cross detailing on the back and even though it’s so summery I think I’ll be wearing it in the fall with a denim jacket thrown over it.

Perfect Proposal

This last Thursday night Jeff and I got engaged! It was such a perfect surprise and I’m still in a bit of shock so please forgive me for being brief, but I wanted to share the news. We were at our favorite hotel The Parker in Palm Springs and Jeff had our families and my two best friends drive out for the surprise. We are so happy and excited for this next step. I’m also excited to share some wedding planning once we get started. Obviously this is all new to me so please share any advice you might have.

Friday Favs

My favorite thing to do on Friday’s is online window shop. Totally normal, right? I’m not wishing away summer by any means but, this week I’ve put together a list of my favorite pre-fall, back-to-school if you will, pieces.  And ok, maybe I snuck in some late summer must-haves too, like this Flynn Skye maxi dress and this yellow lace top. It’s just too hard not to! Happy browsing and happy weekend!

Beach Nights

In the summer my style stays pretty consistently casual when I don’t have an event that requires dressing up. I’ve been living in denim cutoffs and easy tees like this one from Sincerely Jules. I have a bit of a flamingo obsession so it fits in nicely. Last week we spent a windy evening at the beach and my kimono was the perfect accessory because it really carried the breeze.

What to Wear: Wedding Weekend

Although summer is winding down it doesn’t seem like wedding season is! Sometimes it can be tricky to find the right dress for a wedding – not to mention the rehearsal dinner and other activities like the morning after brunch when you really don’t want to brush last nights curls out of your hair… maybe I’m alone there. Since finding the right look can be a little iffy, I’ve put together a simple guide to help you along the way.

Rehearsal dinner (left): You can’t go wrong with an LBD, but why not stand out with a fun pop of color. I love this printed dress with corresponding earrings.
Wedding (middle): Whatever you do, stay away from white… all weekend, but especially the wedding day. A pretty color and lace go along way. Don’t forget your sunnies if the ceremony is outside (or you want to shield your tears).
Morning after (right): If you’re keeping the celebration going the next day with brunch or something. A hat is key for this. I love this boho casual look, it’s effortless and helps you look pulled together like you didn’t stay up parting past your bedtime and “woke up like this.”

So Summery

As you all know by now, rompers were my go to this summer. This one won me over with the feminine ruffles on the bottom and the open back. Such a great summer piece to throw on on a hot day and it doubles as a coverup… and the best part is it’s under $20! Such a steal. These lace up gladiators from Madewell have also been in heavy rotation the past few weeks. They’re neutral enough to go with everything summery and I just love them!

Kimono Krazy

It’s the second half of the summer (sad I know) so naturally we’re all thinking ahead to fall fashion. I’ve mentioned this before but it’s so hard for me to buy colder weather wear while I’m still sweating. I’ve found the perfect, wear now and later, solution… the kimono. I’ve loved these for a few seasons now. They’re perfect with cutoffs and a tank, over a short dress, paired with skinny jeans or flares or my favorite way, as a coverup. Luckily they’re here to stay and will be just as cute with ankle boots once there are leaves on the ground… if you live somewhere with fall foliage that is.
