I spent the summer obsessing over matching separates. I love this trend and don’t see it going away any time soon. From the cute shorts and tops sets to fun skirts and now even pants are getting in on this trend! My favorite part of this trend is that when worn together the separates look like one piece, but you can also pair them with other items making them such a score.
Although I haven’t even asked my ‘maids (it’s coming girls, I swear), I’ve been quietly hunting for bridesmaids dresses I’d actually want to wear. In the age of mis-matched colors and dresses some brides choose it may seem like there are tons of options… however I’ve found it hard to find anything I really like. Luckily my friend Lauren’s contemporary line Paper Crown recently released a bridesmaid collection with twelve chic designs that are sure to please your besties… especially if you’re as selective as I am. Below are a few of my favorites. I’m especially drawn to the two tea length options, I love a long gown that shows off a cute pair of heels.
This dress is the perfect fall transition piece because the colors are perfect for this time of year. We spent the weekend in Solvang for a wedding and the weather was all over the place – really hot during the day but cold in the mornings and night. I threw a denim jacket over this for the evening and stayed warm by the heat lamps.
We had about one day of weather below 85 degrees and I decided to prematurely break out some fall favs. I’ll admit now the felt hat and booties were a bit too aggressive for late summer and I won’t be making that mistake again! I’m not really sure why I’m trying to wish away my favorite season… Oh yes I am, we live in an old house by the beach that doesn’t have AC!
Anyway, while I was warm in this pre-fall getup I did get excited to wear these leopard booties again. Unfortunately they’re sold out, but Sam Edelman still has them in a variety of other colors – they’re the “Petty” and are really the perfect neutral bootie. Plus the leopard seem to always make their way back in stock once the temperatures drop.
It’s crazy to think that it’s almost been a month since we got engaged! But at the same time, we’ve already covered a lot of ground. I gave myself about a week to soak up the engagement then we got going! Over the last two weekend we have visited 11 venues. ELEVEN! I’ve been all over the map with what I wanted (or thought I wanted) for a location. Ranging from the desert to the beach to a country club… and everything in between.
I though I’d share some of the inspiration we’ve pinned along the way.
Who knows what it will end up looking like but I feel like I have a general idea of how I want it all to come together. I hope you don’t mind as I incorporate a few wedding posts in here and there as I plan further. Happy Wednesday!
I bought these leopard shorts last month at Urban Outfitters and they’ve carried me through the end of summer. One weekends I’m usually wearing a variation of this look… it’s easy for running errands and scooping out possible wedding venues – which is what my weekends are currently consumed by.
First off, I need to thank Jeff for being such a great sport and letting me share a little of his personal style here. Second, as you can see by the solo shots of Jeff, my camera skills need a little work. It’s hard for me to get his head and feet in the same frame. Oops!
As for what we’re wearing… over the weekend we went to a fun wedding and wanted to share some late summer wedding style inspiration. From the moment I spotted this dress on Chicwish I knew it would be perfect for a wedding and couldn’t wait to wear it. It’s such a fun dress to twill and dance in and it was perfect for the night. Jeff requested a bow tie and I love how dapper he looked! From our expertise it’s always better to be a little over dressed at a wedding if the invitation doesn’t specify a dress code.
Getting ready for work in the morning sometimes gets frustrating. It’s early (5 am) so I’m tired and don’t want to put much thought into what I’m wearing. My solution lately has been to reach for a dress. They instantly make me feel put together and give me enough energy to start my long drive to work. This fall I’m loving grays, cape detailing, and cold shoulders.
How crazy is it that it’s already September? And even crazier that there are only a few months left in the year! Hope you all had a good holiday weekend, I spent mine beginning the wedding venue hunt, which is much harder than I ever imagined!
Anyway, I’ve always loved mixing floral print and seersucker. It’s fresh and perfect for late summer (it’s still summer) and even early fall. I’ve been thinking about other ways to style this Shabby Apple sweater. I’ll edge it up with a leather skirt in the fall and pair it with a tweed skirt and tights in the winter. I love versatile pieces like this.
