Even before I worked as a stylist, my favorite part of awards shows was always the fashion. I love seeing the risk takers, the glam and the wow of the red carpet. I was there at the Beverly Hilton for the Golden Globes last night – on the red carpet and back stage and was not disappointed fashion-wise.
The best part of the Golden Globes is that it’s one big party. Everyone is a little more relaxed because, even if they don’t win, they get to sit with their friends, have a nice dinner and plenty of drinks, then finish the night at a party or five. Quite the contrast from the other awards shows that are set in stuffy theaters… and I think that showed in the fashion last night.
One thing I always love seeing is bright colored gowns. Louise Roe and Lupita Nyong’o were show stoppers in bold reds. I love that they weren’t afraid to step it up and be bold. Plus how great do these gowns shine even against the red carpet?!
Olivia Wilde, Kate Beckinsale, and Margot Robbie literally dazzled their way down the red carpet. Sequins are the best way to make a statement in a big crowd and always a win in my book.
I put together my own sparkly look, but made it more daytime with booties and sunglasses. What do you think, will you wear sequins in the day light? I think “old Hollywood” is always an underlying trend at the GG’s, so I adapted some of that with my red lip, retro dress and classic sunglasses.
