I’m definitely on board with some of the 90’s trends that have been making the rounds the past couple of years. High-waisted denim (aka mom jeans), belt bags (fanny packs) and Dr. Marten’s are back to being staples in my closet. But last week I layered a t-shirt under a slip dress and felt like my best 90’s self. It’s been years since I did the t-shirt/dress combo… probably since I was in 6th grade in the 90’s! It’s such an easy way to make dresses more casual and daytime appropriate. Now I’m trying to think of what other dresses in my closet I can wear this way. It’s so fun!

I got this blush velvet slip dress from BB Dakota a few months ago and loved it as soon as I tried it on. However I wanted to save it for when I saw showing, I just thought it would be even cuter with a bump. I think it will be really cute for a holiday party without the t-shirt but with a leather jacket and booties or heels. Could also be worn with tights. Always love a dress that can be worn a bunch of different ways. That’s the fun thing about layering a tee under a dress… it gives you a different way to wear it.
With the holidays and holiday parties approaching, I’m eying a bunch of other dresses to try out this trend on. I love the idea of taking this sequin slip dress (comes in two colors) and making it more casual/day time appropriate with a simple white tee. I’ve almost added this dress to my cart several times over the last week… it’s another one that would be just as cute dressed down with a tshirt. And here’s a printed dress I’d pair with a black tee.
