Happy December! This holiday season feels a lot more festive than last year – so many fun events scheduled. I’m mapping out my outfits and wanted to share five different looks for different kinds of holiday parties. Everything from casual, to glam, to glam pajamas! Something for everyone and every event.
It’s that time of year… when you have to bribe your husbands and kids to hold it together and smile for the camera for an hour so you can *hopefully* get one good photo for a holiday card. If you leave your session without any meltdowns, tears or feeling like you’ve run a marathon you are ahead of the curve. We’re taking ours tomorrow so I’m preparing myself for the worst and packing a bag of lollipops and other necessary bribes.
One question I get asked pretty often is how to chose outfits for family photos, so I wanted to share some tips.
First off, I pick out what I’m wearing. That might sound selfish, but I think I have every right to be a little selfish here, that way I know I’ll be wearing something I’m comfortable in and can fill in the blanks with the rest of the fam. I typically wear a maxi dress so I’ll share all the options I considered this year.
This year I went with the blue and white, also our photos are at the beach, so I wanted a blue/neutral look for the family. I went through Crosby’s closet and found a dress she already had that I knew she’d love to wear, then went through Wilder’s and Jeff’s and picked out shirts for them that would coordinate.
You don’t want everyone in the same color or it will look too uniform. Keeping in mind our beach location, I went with blue and white for me and Wilder, dusty rose/mauve for Crosby and tan for Jeff.
I also like to take a picture of the clothing together to make sure nothing is clashing and everything flows.
Jeff’s shirt is old – similar here
We just got back from a weekend in Paso Robles spent wine tasting! It was only a two day getaway and I managed to pack really light. I brought only the pieces above (minus the hat because I forgot it, and the boyfriend denim jacket). I wore everything I packed except for the booties and wanted to share five weekend outfits I made from this mini capsule.
outfit 1 (roadtrip outfit): lounge set, caridgan, sneakers, leather tote
outfit 2 (night time): black waffle knit top, black jeans, faux fur mules
outfit 3 (daytime wine tasting): denim jacket, plaid dress, yellow cross body (sneakers or booties)
outfit 4 (night time): beige collared sweater, black jeans (booties or faux fur mules)
outfit 5 (travel outfit): black maxi dress, denim jacket, yellow cross body bag
Hello from my house! I can’t even remember what day it is or how many days we’re into the social distancing, but here I am. A month ago if you would have told me we would all be quarantined in our houses I would have thought you lost your mind, it feels surreal to be living out this weird historical event. Anyway, comfort has been my #1 priority and I’ve been living in sweats. I want to share my five favorite lounge wear sets with you and I’ll link to any similar options I find on sale.
As always, thank you so much for reading and following. Please stay healthy and stay home if you are able to.
Maybe it’s because our weather has been so warm this week, but I’m really feeling spring right now! I absolutely love the start of spring (really any new season), but I think spring clothes are my favorite. The easiest way to start transitioning your wardrobe right now is with sweaters you can wear when it’s both cold and warm. I found six that are perfect to refresh your winter wardrobe and wear into the warmer months over dresses, shorts and skirts.
Like a Rainbow sweater (pictured above)
Love this light weight sweater. It’s perfect for spring but can be layered for colder days too. The bright stripes are so fun.
Love the thick stripes and chunky knit here. Looks super cute with blue jeans but would also work with white denim and shorts.
This sweater comes in a few different colors and is right on trend. It has a slouchier fit and will look so cute with cutoffs when it’s warmer.
The detailing on this sweater is gorgeous and I really love the side ties. So pretty and can be worn so many ways. It would look great over a swimsuit or a dress.
I did the bra tuck with this one to fake a cropped look, but it’s definitely a full length sweater. I think the color is so pretty, especially with these white jeans. It comes in two other colors as well.
I wore this to an event earlier in the month and loved how flattering it was. The wrap style lets you adjust how fitted you want it to be so. It’s the perfect neutral to wear with just about anything.
Hope you’ve had a great week – thank you so much for reading and following!
We’re in that weird holiday fog between Christmas and New Year’s where every day blends together and I don’t really know what to do with myself. Truthfully I’ve been pretty lazy and it’s been amazing, but I’m starting to get a little restless and ready to do a little work. Today I wanted to share a blog post with four very different outfit ideas for New Years Eve.
I got this dress a few months back and tucked it away for a special occasion. It’s such a fun sequin cocktail dress, but my favorite part is the fringe on the bottom. I think it would be perfect if you’re going to any 20’s theme party… or just want something a little different.
This dress is a bit of a splurge but it’s one I’ll have for many years to come. It’s vegan leather and runs pretty TTS. Also comes in a really pretty tealish blue.
Festive but Warm
I included this outfit in my holiday party outfit post too, but I the top also works for NYE. If you’re looking for something a little more casual than a dress but still want to be dressed fo the occasion. Love it with these dressy joggers, you could also pair it with black jeans or leather pants.
Comfy on the Couch
If you’re staying in this year, these joggers are the way to go. They’re so soft (I sleep in them pretty often), have pockets and come in a few fun prints. There’s also a matching hoodie if you want a coordinating set. Honestly a night of comfort sounds like an amazing way to ring in a new decade.
I’m actually still trying to figure out our plans for the night so I have no idea what I’ll be wearing.
Hope you’re having a relaxing holiday week!
