When I think back to how I packed my hospital bag for Crosby’s birth 7 months ago, I laugh. I actually planned to shoot a post on what I packed the day she was born (she was a week and a half early). I did so much research, seriously I think I read every Pinterest post on the best things to pack. So when it came time I thought I was set. I had slippers, my own pillows, flip flops for the shower, etc.

One area I completely neglected? My beauty bag. Sure I packed my normal makeup, face wash and toothpaste but I completely forgot about other essentials like moisturizer, eye cream and toner. And let me tell you, hospital air is cold and dry and wreaks havoc on your skin. Not to mention the revolving door of nurses, doctors and other visitors. I know, for the most part, they’re scrubbed up and germ free but I still wish I packed hand sanitizer.

Here are the beauty items I WISH I packed.

Kopari Coconut Melt – Hospital rooms are cold and unforgiving. My skin was drier than ever when I was there and I lacked the proper moisturizer. It’s coconut oil so you can use it for everything like dry skin, dry lips, hair or even a makeup remover.

Elemis Travel Set – This travel set has everything you need for your face in the best sized products. I swear by their toner and the face wash is really great too.

Birdie by OLIKA hand sanitizer – Obviously once you have a baby germs become a huge concern and you start washing your hands more than ever. I wish I would have brought in this cute little Birdie hand sanitizer for extra reinforcement. Not only is it adorable but it’s super handy. Hand sanitizer sprays out of the top and wipes are hidden away on the bottom making it so convenient for any new mama.

Colleen Rothschild Beauty Water – Love this for a refreshing pick me up. I don’t usually wash my face in the morning but I do spray this on it before my moisturizer.

Aveda Dry Shampoo – I’ve tried a lot of dry shampoos and this one continues to be my favorite. It blends really well, has a great scent and definitely makes my hair look clean when I’m due for a shampoo.

Dermalogica Eye Cream – Another product I discovered post-baby. This eye cream is great for faking a rested appearance – aka something you’re not right after you have a baby. It’s really cooling and reduces bags and puffiness. Perfect new mama (and dad!) eye cream.
