Happy December! This holiday season feels a lot more festive than last year – so many fun events scheduled. I’m mapping out my outfits and wanted to share five different looks for different kinds of holiday parties. Everything from casual, to glam, to glam pajamas! Something for everyone and every event.
Happy Friday! We’re currently experiencing a little heatwave (it’s supposed to be 80 degrees today) so I’m excited for a weekend spent outside. This week I styled the Old Navy joggers from my monthly staples five different ways. Truthfully it was a little warm to wear them much outside of the house so most of the looks are centered around comfort. Hope you have a great weekend!
Hello 2021! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season despite how different things may have been. I did not set out to take a 2+ week break from blogging, it just kind of happened that way. Now that we’re in the new year I’m planning on getting back to a regular schedule here. I’ve been blogging for almost 9 years now and want to bring back a lot of focus here in the new year.
2020 was kind of a weird year for fashion, but if the last year taught me anything style-wise it’s that a curated wardrobe of basics that I can mix and match is all I want right now. I found some of my absolute favorite basic pieces last year and have built more of a capsule wardrobe around them. This year I will be choosing a few staples each month and sharing multiple ways to style them.
As happy as I am to turn the page and leave 2020 behind, I know nothing is going to change overnight. On New Years Day we woke up to a new year but the same world we’ve been living in the past 10 months. Things will probably get worse before they eventually get better. But one day we will turn the page to a brand new chapter and we’ll appreciate it more because of all of this. Thank you for following me and for all the support. Cheers to 2021!
It’s crazy unbelievable that it’s already the beginning of August. Although we’ve spent the majority of the last 4 months at home, they’ve still gone by at lightening speed. I know the rest of the year will follow suit. Today I’m sharing my top 5 sellers from the month of July.
As usual, they’re mostly women’s clothing items with a couple of my favorite home decor finds too.
- U-neck tank – For the third month in a row this tank is my best seller. You’ve heard me rave about it several times, but it really lives up to the hype. I ordered another white one to have as a spare. It sells out a lot but the re-stock it pretty often.
- High-rise mom shorts – I purchased these shorts in white at the beginning of last month. It was the first time I’d bought anything from Abercrombie in probably 15 years, but I’ve been really impressed. They fit pretty TTS and are really comfortable and flattering.
- Round jute rug – We got this round rug to go under our lounge chairs on the patio a couple of months ago. It’s great for outdoors, but would work inside as well. I think it would be really cute in a breakfast nook/kitchen.
- Tie-front bodysuit – Another Abercrombie purchase that I’ve been impressed with. I wore this bodysuit on 4th of July to walk around the neighborhood. It comes in a few other colors/prints too.
- Outdoor loveseat – I’ve shared lots of photos of our outdoor space over the past few months mainly because we’ve spent so much time out here. Several years ago Jeff custom built our outdoor living room furniture but have found a few similar options to share. This love seat was one of them.
Hope you’re having a great weekend – thank you so much for reading and following!
My #1 summer staple is always a good pair of denim shorts. I wear them almost every single day when it’s hot, so I need a couple of pairs to get me through the season. Recently I’ve been searching for a new go-to pair and have gone through a few rounds of online orders so I thought I’d share my research with you with my denim short guide.
For reference I normally wear a 24/25 or a 0. Here’s the link to the bodysuit I’m wearing.
I first purchased this pair back in February and have worn them quite a bit since. I am obsessed with the wash, minimal distressing and fit but wish they were a little bit longer. I’ve found this particular style to run large so I sized down one size to a 23. They’re slightly high waisted (hit right about the belly button) and by far my most worn shorts.
Since I love this style so much I wanted to try them out in a non-distressed wash. I ordered this pair and decided to size up to my normal size in hopes they’d be a little longer. The length is about the same as my other pair, but since I went with my normal size (24) they’re not as high waisted and hit a lot lower.
I haven’t shopped at Abercrombie in years but stumbled upon this pair while online shopping. They had great reviews so I decided to order a pair in a few different sizes and see how they fit. Since Abercrombie has always been geared towards teens I ordered them in a size 25 and 26. The 25’s fit perfectly and I was actually really surprised with how much I liked them. My only qualm is they’re more heavily distressed than I was wanting. And since the color is so similar to my Agolde’s I don’t think I’ll be keeping them. But since I like them so much I’ll be ordering them in white.
I was really curious about this style because they’re a higher rise with a longer inseam. I thought they’d be a good everyday “mom” short. I ordered them in a 24 and they’re a little too tight. I would recommend sizing up. I also didn’t love this length on me. I think they’d be more flattering on someone taller (I’m 5’4).
I purchased this pair last summer and sized up to a 26 since I was a couple months postpartum. They run small and have little to no stretch; they were a little too tight last year but fit great this year. For some reason the denim is a lot stiffer than the Agoldes and they’re not as comfortable… but they don’t stretch out between wears and really hold their shape.
Have you been to any holiday parties yet? We have Jeff’s work party tomorrow night. The other day I opened my closet to try to decide what I’d wear and came up with four different looks. They’re all festive and different from each other… perfect for any kind of holiday party.
Look 1 Little Red Wrap Dress:
This dress is SO comfortable! That was my first thought as soon as I put it on. Plus there’s something so flattering about a wrap dress. I love that this one can be worn a few different ways… with or without tights or with over the knee boots.
Look 2 The Fake Jumpsuit:
This is actually two pieces but I love that it could almost pass as a jumpsuit. The top is a body suit and the pants are dressy high-waisted joggers.
Look 3 Gold Metallic Top:
I paired this super festive gold metallic top with the same high-waisted joggers. It’s giving me late 80’s/early 90’s vibes… I feel like it’s something my mom would have worn to a holiday party around then (in a good way). Definitely the warmest option.
Look 4 Velvet Maxi Dress:
This dress has been burning a hole in my closet for a few months now… I just haven’t had the place to wear it. If you’re going to a fancier holiday party I think this would be perfect.
I asked everyone to vote for a favorite on Instagram the other day and the results were all over the place. I’m leaning towards wearing look #2. It’s fun and comfortable and I’ll be warm enough (with a jacket), but who knows?! I just might change my mind again before tomorrow.
Thank you so much for reading – hope you’re having a good week!
