A high-waisted skirt paired with a crop top is an easy outfit that always make me feel pulled together. There’s just something so lady-like about skirts like this one and love how I feel like I’m playing dress up, but as an adult!
I went a little nautical here with this red bag and Hermes scarf that I’ve had for years. I actually got at a vintage store shortly after I graduated college and moved to LA. I felt like I found gold and bought it and have treasured it since.

If there’s ever a place to wear a red dress and matching red lip it’s The Hollywood Roosevelt hotel. I always get “Old Hollywood” vibes there because of it’s history. Last weekend we went to a movie premiere, after party and spent the night in the hotel. This little red dress was the perfect piece for that late night. I kept warm in a classic trench.
Can we take a minute and talk about these shoes? I got them a few years ago but they’ve recently been re-released. They may seem like such a statement shoe, but I’ve seriously gotten so much wear out of them. I wore them with a jumpsuit last spring in New York, but my favorite way to wear them is with jeans and a white button down. It really takes a casual look up a few notches while showcasing the heel.

I looked in my closet recently and was a little stunned by how many neutral pieces I’d collected. Over the last year or so I’ve gravitated towards nude, white, blush and tan colors the most. This was quite a shift from how I dressed in the past. I used to be all about color. In fact, in college my motto was “black is for boring people.” So needless to say I was a little disappointed in myself for the state of my current wardrobe.
Now I know I’m older now and my tastes have changed, but the second I put on this dress I felt happy. There’s something so fresh and playful about color and wearing it is always so much fun. I’m now determined to add more colorful pieces to my closet this spring and this dress will be worn to death from now until September.

The whole “fall” thing is kind of a lost concept in LA. By September our brains think it’s supposed to start cooling down, but mother nature is still heating up. Most years true fall (below 78 degrees) starts around Thanksgiving, however mornings and evenings cool off earlier than that. My solution is to layer, layer, layer! This duster cardigan is a godsend. It’s just as easy to pair with shorts as it is with a mini dress or denim for that “not quite fall” morning chill. I’m searching for more to add to my wardrobe.
