I always love finding cute Americana outfits for the kids… and myself. Memorial Day is right around the corner and 4th of July isn’t far behind. I’ve put together some inspiration for red, white and blue outfits.
It’s crazy to think we’re already into April and Easter is just over a week away! I always love spring dresses and have fun finding an Easter dress every year. This year I’ve found five that I think would be perfect for the day. I’ve actually worn two of them recently, one to a bridal shower and one to a baby shower, and own the other three. I’m probably going to wear the blue maxi for Easter. 🙂
I’ve been loving the split hem pants trend lately! It’s an elevated way to wear leggings that’s really flattering and practical. I tried on several pairs before I found some that worked for me. I’m 5’4″ with shorter legs so this pair in the 7/8 length are perfect. They also come in regular lengthif you have longer legs. I’ve been wearing them weekly… sometimes multiple times over the past few weeks. Here’s eight ways to wear them
It’s that time of year… when you have to bribe your husbands and kids to hold it together and smile for the camera for an hour so you can *hopefully* get one good photo for a holiday card. If you leave your session without any meltdowns, tears or feeling like you’ve run a marathon you are ahead of the curve. We’re taking ours tomorrow so I’m preparing myself for the worst and packing a bag of lollipops and other necessary bribes.
One question I get asked pretty often is how to chose outfits for family photos, so I wanted to share some tips.
First off, I pick out what I’m wearing. That might sound selfish, but I think I have every right to be a little selfish here, that way I know I’ll be wearing something I’m comfortable in and can fill in the blanks with the rest of the fam. I typically wear a maxi dress so I’ll share all the options I considered this year.
This year I went with the blue and white, also our photos are at the beach, so I wanted a blue/neutral look for the family. I went through Crosby’s closet and found a dress she already had that I knew she’d love to wear, then went through Wilder’s and Jeff’s and picked out shirts for them that would coordinate.
You don’t want everyone in the same color or it will look too uniform. Keeping in mind our beach location, I went with blue and white for me and Wilder, dusty rose/mauve for Crosby and tan for Jeff.
I also like to take a picture of the clothing together to make sure nothing is clashing and everything flows.
Crosby’s dress is old – similar here, here and here
A big trend I’m noticing this fall is split hem pants. They’re everywhere right now from faux leather, to leggings to denim. They’re so flattering and really elongate your legs. While I’ve mostly been seeing this trend done with black, other colors are also coming out to play. I’ve put together a round up below of 12 different pairs in different price points and materials – and most are under $100.
Happy Monday and happy fall! I can’t believe it’s practically October. I also can’t believe I haven’t gotten a blog post up in weeks. I’ve been busy adjusting to our new schedule with schools, pickups, etc – but I hope to be back to posting more regularly now. Today I wanted to share five outfits I’ve worn recently… a little bit of everything from carpool to cocktails. We’ve actually had a bit of fall weather and it’s been a nice change from summer. It’s supposed to heat up again this week, but I’ll take it while I can.
