We just spent a fun winter-y weekend in Big Bear with friends. All last week the forecast called for lots of snow so we frantically pulled out our warmest clothes and even ordered chains for the car. Well mother nature had slightly different plans. While it wasn’t quite blizzard conditions we arrived to a teeny bit of snow and got about an inch Saturday night. Just enough to make a bunch of Orange County kids happy… and not too much that we froze.

I’ve mentioned this before but I’m very picky with maxi dresses. But lately I’ve been drawn to them. This one actually doubles as a kimono which is perfect for spring/festival season. I packed it for my trip to Palm Springs last week ,but forgot to bring a belt to cinch the waist. If there’s ever a place to wear a flowy boho dress it’s the desert, so I just went with it.
Let’s talk about my shoes. I’ve been wanting a new pair of tan wedges but hadn’t seen anything that caught my eye. On a quick trip to Target I spotted this DV pair and knew I had to have them. I had no idea Target even carried DV but now I want every single pair. Check them all out here.
It’s no secret The Parker Palm Springs is one of my favorite weekend getaway spots. Jeff and I try to go a few times a year. I consider myself somewhat of a seasoned veteran of what to pack for a desert getaway. One thing I always like to do is arrive with a swimsuit under my clothes. That way if the room isn’t ready I don’t have to worry about rummaging through my suitcase for one and changing in a bathroom stall. I thought I’d share two easy-peasy travel looks that can take you from the car to the pool without worry.

Our trip to New York was a whirlwind 72 hours, but we still managed to take advantage of all the city has to offer. We walked a lot, and my new balance shoes were my savior. I packed my favorite booties but never ended up wearing them because these shoes were just so comfortable. When traveling I like to look put together but still be comfortable. This trip that meant LAYERS. The weather was beautiful overall, but it rained a bit and got chilly. Obviously flamingos are an obsession of mine so this scarf and this sweatshirt helped fight the cold. I also took a page from my mom’s book and packed in a color scheme of mostly whites, blushes, blacks and tans which made mixing and matching really easy.
I’m so excited that this weekend we’re going away! I can’t wait for a couple relaxing days in the sun and have already started making a list of what to pack. I just bought this bikini and am so excited to wear it and other fun bright prints while we’re escaping reality for a few days.

I scored this Clover Canyon dress at a sample sale a few months back and had been dying to wear it! As seen here and here, Clover Canyon is one of my new favorite designers that I just can’t get enough of. I especially loved how this printed dress looked with this neon statement necklace. Sometimes in fashion, more really is more.
PS – How fab is this location? Jeff and I were lucky enough to stay at the Four Seasons in Westlake Village over the weekend. More on that later!
